Weekend Recap

Good morning! I hope you all had a great weekend! We returned home from Omaha last night after celebrating Christmas with Kurtis’ side of the family and our besties and goddaughters. Here’s a bit of what we did over the past week or so.

Home Projects & Updates

Over at the house, they got all of our HVAC units installed both inside and outside! They won’t actually hook them up for several months, but they’re ready to go once they do.

One of the most exciting things that happend mid-week was that they finished priming all of the walls in the home! If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen the walking tour I gave after the update. It made such a difference inside and makes it feel so much further along! Here is a peek at the living room now.

And here is our bedroom. There will be a white beam that runs along the center of the two peaks below, and the chandelier will hang from there.

We have a handful of meetings this week, as well as updated cabinet plans and drawings to sort through today. Our first meeting is to plan out all of our closets in the house, and admittedly, we didn’t do a great job prepping for it. But the plan is that we’ll talk through our needs and the trim guy will draw plans on each of the walls so we can visualize everything before he starts building it all out. I believe his crew will be onsite through the new year, installing closets, but also all the trim and baseboards throughout the home. We’re really starting to get to the fun parts of the build process!

Around Town & For Fun

Before Kurtis left to Omaha on Tuesday, we grilled steaks at home Monday night and spent some time with the cats. I don’t show our house much at night and it’s rare that we cook on the back deck when it’s dark out! But such is winter. If you missed my Christmas home tour last week, you can see how everything looks in the daytime.

On Wednesday, part of my Black Friday Visual Comfort order arrived for the new house. Thankfully most of the remainder are backordered until March. But these were so large they had to come on a FedEx freight truck. Not gonna lie, I do have concerns about just how large our kitchen pendants will be (the two boxes shown below). But I also ordered another Moravian star chandelier for either our laundry room or above the tub and that box was even larger. Ha! Let’s just say, we have some serious storage issues right now with all of these here.

I filmed a packing video for Omaha/Salt Lake that I still need to share on Instagram. But the temps were freezing, so I wanted festive and cozy.

While Kurtis went to Omaha Tuesday for some work meetings and holiday parties, I flew in Thursday night. After grabbing our rental car, we headed west. We did a drive by of our old Omaha house and it looked so cute decorated with Christmas lights!

We stayed with our besties and goddaughters for the trip and then for the portion with Kurtis’ family, we just drove back and forth to his sister and brother-in-law’s house where everyone else was staying. Jill was out of town for business through Friday afternoon, so I was on hair duty before the girls had school.

Friday night, we had dinner at Roja with our friends and I’m bummed I didn’t get a picture of everyone. But here is Zoe enjoying dessert after her elf sprinkled the adults with magic that would make them say yes to dessert for one night only!

I wasn’t super great about taking photos during most of our time in Omaha. But we did get a nice family photo using a ladder as a tripod for my phone! We spent Saturday playing games, hanging out and enjoying some family time!

I also got some baby snuggles with our great niece – she just turned one a few weeks ago!

We also had gift time, game time, and movie time with the girls.

We had a wonderful time with everyone and spent most of the day traveling home yesterday.

We’re home for a few days before we fly out to Salt Lake this weekend to spend Christmas with my parents! We return home late Christmas day and then I’m done with travel for a bit until Kurtis’ company trip in February. It will be nice to have a longer block of time at home for a bit! I’m planning to post a few more times yet this week, but will likely be stepping away most of next week while we’re traveling. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year’s!
