Weekend Recap

Good morning! I hope you all had a nice weekend! It’s so crazy to me that Thanksgiving is already this week. I have no doubt the rest of the year is going to fly by. Here’s what we’ve been up to over the past week or so.

Home Projects & Updates

It was a wild week over at the house, with the progress really showing up visually! The challenge we’re running into is that, now with daylight savings time, the crew tends to arrive shortly after sunrise and aren’t leaving until after sunset (which is around 4:45 here right now). So, it has been more and more challenging to get in and see the progress during the week without getting in the way.

Friday afternoon we were finally able to pop in when they were working in a different area. The screened-in porch now has most of the ceiling installed and the walls have plywood on them. Once complete the walls will actually have our exterior siding on them and the ceiling and beam will all be painted white.

And even more exciting?!? WE HAVE DRYWALL!!! I’d say it’s about 90% of the way completed, as the first floor still needs the lower piece installed all around. Here is a view from our future bedroom looking into the entry hall with our closet and bathroom beyond that.

This is the little guest bedroom that has a flat ceiling in Chris and Rachel’s house. But, being the nerdy floorplan girl I am, I realized both the interior and exterior would look great with the addition of a window (and vaulting it on the inside, as it was already vaulted on the exterior). Now it mirrors our bathroom on the opposite side of the back of the house and gives the symmetry I love on the exterior, but makes this room feel so much larger from the inside! I definitely need to find a fun chandelier for this space.

They were starting to mud like crazy, as well, when we popped in so I’m guessing they may get all of that first coat on yet this week. Time for me to really start finalizing some decisions!

Around Town & For Fun

Kurtis was in Omaha the entire week for intense training sessions, strategy meetings and board meetings. It gave me an opportunity to get most of our Christmas decorating completed and also to binge the latest season of Love is Blind 😉

While Kurtis isn’t a willing participant to watch the show, Henley absolutely loves it. It means fire time and usually some Door Dash. She also loves Christmas trees, and since I’m not setting one up in the loft this year (which she used to sleep under), she’s now taken over this cushion on the sofa which I think is her way of sleeping under the tree again. So cute! The plaid pillow is the one I shared in my Christmas design boards last week and I’m so, so happy with them! Various colors keep going in and out of stock so keep an eye out if you want them.

I hosted a few friends one night to come over and look at a few of my design plans for the new house. I’m really hoping to take advantage of some Black Friday sales when it comes specifically to lighting and a few bathroom vanities. It helped to get feedback from some friends to make sure I’m not doing anything too crazy 😉

With Kurtis’ work week, we opted out of our weekly dinner with friends. Instead, we hopped in the golf cart and went to dinner at Scout. For whatever reason, we both noticed this wallpaper for the first time and he said that’s the look he wanted in his office. Between this and the club house last week, he has a lot of clarity on what he wants his office to look like, so it’s making my life a heck of a lot easier! I wish I could be that decisive! Being the internet shopping sleuth that I am, I had the wallpaper narrowed down to this one within minutes.

We had a large group for bocce league last night, as we have a lot more friends on 30A for the holiday week! I actually saw at least a half dozen, if not more, of my influencer friends are coming this week too!

The stars were beautiful last night on our golf cart ride home! It has been such an incredible November on 30A weather-wise, and in some ways, was actually better than late October this year!

While I didn’t have tons to share today, I still wanted to post so I could wish each and every one of you a wonderful Thanksgiving! I’ll still be posting quite a bit this week, but know some of you may be heading out of town or with family and friends over the coming week. This will be our first Thanksgiving ever on 30A, so while we’ll be missing our families, we’ll be celebrating with so many of our friends that have also become family. I’m in charge of mashed potatoes (making my famous recipe) and green bean casserole (because Kurtis requires it at Thanksgiving). I think Rachel will be hosting 25-30 people, so we might need to start peeling potatoes now 😉
