Weekend Recap

Good morning! I hope you all had a nice weekend! I’m coming at you a day late, as we were still in Omaha yesterday and then spent all evening traveling back home. Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to over the past week or so.

Home Projects & Updates

Lots of great progress over at our new build last week. We haven’t had a chance to check out what they did from Thursday on, either, since we got home so late last night. Here’s our future mudroom with the walls all up!

And the most exciting update for me was that they built the stairs up to the carriage house! So, we both got to scope it out for the first time. The mudroom shown above is the little cement slab section you see below. Otherwise this area of our house that connects our house with the carriage house and garage is all staircase.

Our new carriage house is nearly the exact same size as our current one, but the layout is a bit different. This is the view from the dining room and living room through what will be the French door leading out to a narrow balcony (much like we have now).

While we were in Omaha we were notified that we have to have all of our plumbing fixtures finalized by this Friday. We hadn’t even been asked to go look at them yet and can’t get in until Thursday. So, it’s going to be a quick decision. I need to start stalking Pinterest for inspo pics so that we can hopefully narrow down some (in-budget) selections ASAP. I’ll be sure to share what we find!

Around Town & For Fun

We spent the beginning of the week working and prepping for our trip to Omaha for Kurtis’ parents’ 60th wedding anniversary weekend.

We fit in a date night at Cuvee and then dinner at Amigos with Rachel on Wednesday evening since Chris had taken their boys to Six Flags.

We flew to Omaha on Thursday and after being delayed a bit, we had a late dinner with our friends and goddaughters at Roja!

We stayed with our besties and goddaughters since Kurtis’ sister’s house was full with other family so it was fun to get to see both for the weekend! Zoe decorated our bedroom with the cutest signs and cards on our nightstands. She is so sweet!

We were both also baby hogs with our great niece once we headed over to spend time with the family. We hadn’t seen her since she was only about three weeks old when we went back last year for the holidays! She is one of the smiliest and cutest babies out there!

We spent the full days with Kurtis’ side of the family and would then head back to our friend’s house at night, usually around 8:30 or 9, and then hang out with them a bit.

Rachel had to watch our cats and give Hawkeye his meds since our usual cat sitter was out of town. If you were following along on my Instagram stories, she kept sending AI videos of him and Henley and they kept us entertained all weekend. I think my favorite was the one where she pretended to train him to do the dishes. Ha!

Saturday was the day that the full family was in town so we celebrated Larry and Corrine’s 60th anniversary that night. It was such a great weekend celebrating them and their marriage!

Sunday we had a final lunch at Lazlo’s with the full family and grabbed a picture while we were there!

After lunch, we headed back to our friends’ house while the family packed up and hit the road. We had BLT’s for dinner (all of our faves!) and then Zoe put on a production for us with some crafts she had made. It was so cute and we were all laughing so hard!

We spent most of the day with our friends Monday and had lunch at Blatt before we packed up, checked on a few of our rental properties there, and then headed to the airport. It was a late night for us and we didn’t get to bed until after midnight. Really it was a long week with very little sleep. But, it was all so worth it and so fun to see everyone!

Now that the house is progressing so nicely, I’m guessing I’m going to have to start finalizing a lot more selections. So, I’ll definitely plan to head back over early this week and share some more video updates on my Instagram to share with you all.
