Weekend Recap

Weekend Update

Good morning! I hope you all had a nice and relaxing weekend! Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to over the past week or so.

This post contains affiliate links for your shopping convenience. You can read my full disclosure policy here.

Home Projects & Updates

Kurtis specifically spent a lot of time last week prepping/checking the house for the cold weather and snowstorm. The infrastructure here is such that they don’t really run pipes or build houses with the idea that we’d have snow or cold water. So we have to wrap exposed pipes to insulate them, and then places like our outdoor shower that don’t have a shut-off valve, you have to have a slow drip going so they don’t freeze. Lots of stuff to learn when you move to a new region!

I spent a lot of time doing spring cleaning while I was stuck inside. I rounded up a bunch of donations and spent time organizing so I can move on to spring decorating shortly! One area I focused on was my office. It’s a constant disaster! Little things like organizing my jewelry and fabric/wallpaper samples make it so much easier for me to now get the rest of the room in order. I had stuff everywhere!

One of the biggest factors for me in organizing is having the right supplies. Previously I was using a leftover sock/underwear organizer for my jewelry and it was honestly a mess since that wasn’t its intended use. You can see below the before and after once I ordered these trays. I love that they’re stackable so I could stack as deep as 3-4 trays in this drawer, and now everything has its own place!

I also got all of my fabric, upholstery, wallpaper and window covering samples organized and it feels great! I used this acrylic set that is a new favorite! It’s one of the few I’ve found that includes rubber feet so they don’t slide around in drawers! You also get 25 pieces for only $25!

This is the set of four trays but they sell them individually, as well. I ended up using the lid as another tray since I didn’t have a reason to actually close mine off.

Kurtis took this picture down the hallway when he saw Hawkeye was “helping” me.

Now that I feel more organized, I can focus on starting my spring decorating this week!

Around Town & For Fun

The biggest news of the week? Our 30A snowstorm! It was wild, you guys! I think many of us locals were skeptical that it would happen, but the snow started late Tuesday afternoon and went on into the night. We measured a few times but the ground was warm enough it was melting as it was accumulating. We’re guessing it ended up being around 7″ of actual snowfall though! Wednesday morning we still had over 5″ even though it was already melting.

By Wednesday afternoon, most of the snow had melted in areas where the sun was hitting. It took until Saturday or Sunday for it to fully melt in the shady areas though. So wild! I saw these kids out my office window making snowmen for a few hours. By that evening, they had almost fully melted, but it was fun while it lasted!

Kurtis and I got up early Wednesday morning to take some drone footage. The trees kind of hid all the snow, but it was all still so beautiful. I made a quick video here if you’re interested in seeing more.

Our friend Ashley took this photo in Rosemary Beach and my godmother captured this cute snowman down at the Orange Street beach access in Inlet Beach. If you look close you can see areas that are snow vs. sand and it shows just how white our sand is here!

We had a blizzard party at Rachel & Chris’ house Tuesday night. A few of us from our street walked over in the snow and had dinner together. Most of us were so excited it was snowing! How cute were these two?! They actually both loved the snow too!

Last snow pic – I promise! Here was Hola Beaches on Wednesday morning. It was so fun to see pictures from different places around town. They’re calling it a once in a generation snowstorm, so I’m guessing we may never see snow here again!

We had such a beautiful sunrise Thursday morning! Most of our friends are early risers, so our group chat was getting lit up making sure we all got up to go see it! Fun fact: despite being in Florida, we’re in the Central time zone so the sun rises and sets very early here.

Kurtis ran some errands Friday afternoon, but outside of that, neither of us left the house until Saturday night! I finally made him take me to dinner because I was going stir crazy. The snow was fun while it lasted but I was ready to get back to warmer temps and regular agendas! I wore this top – my first Varley piece. I ordered it with a matching set and I’m obsessed with the brand now. Late to the game, but glad I finally tried it! This top runs pretty big (I’m in a Large and it’s roomy), but it does have a tighter band at the bottom, so I’d say true to size since it’s intended to be oversized. I like the top a lot, but I haven’t stopped wearing the set in this top and these shorts. They’re so incredibly soft and cozy and splurge-worthy in my mind. I’ve returned countless Amazon look for less finds and hated them all. They just don’t fit right on me or the material is off. But these are the real deal!

I’m off to an influencer event in Seaside this morning to promote the Seaside School Half Marathon and 5K and the Seaside merchants. It should be a lot of fun! Kurtis is in Dallas half of the week (he left yesterday) so I’m planning lots of project time, as well! My parents arrive this weekend but will be staying at Hola Beaches with my godmother and her other two roommates/my godmother from nurses training. It should be a lot of fun!
