Weekend Recap

Weekend Update

Good morning! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I have a busy and exciting week ahead and I’m looking forward to the arrival of one of my favorite people today! Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to around here the past few weeks since I skipped last week’s recap!

This post contains affiliate links for your shopping convenience. You can read my full disclosure policy here.

Home Projects & Updates

We finally installed the woven shades for three of our doors over the weekend. It totally changes the light coming into our kitchen, entryway and carriage house, but also adds some much needed privacy in these spaces!

Our three little “helpers”. Pretty typical – Henley bossing us around, Hawkeye falling asleep, and Bailey finding a random spot to stare at us out of the blue 😉

We went with these shades in the non-automated version. We have the automated versions in our living room and loft spaces (and then plantation shutters everywhere else). We’re really happy with the tone of the Bonaire Flaxen weave we chose. Now that all windows are installed, I’ll plan to do a post dedicated just to the window coverings with a lot more details.

KITCHEN SOURCES: Woven Shade | Herringbone Runner Rug | Striped Marble Vase | Cabinet Knobs | Woven Chandeliers

You can see the automated ones here in our upstairs loft area.

LOFT SOURCES: Woven Shades | Rattan Cabinet | Footed Bowl | Similar Moss Balls | Frame TV | Faux Palm Tree | Sectional | Lamps | Console Table | Baskets | Similar Rug

Our Walmart chair arrived and we’re really happy with it! I shared a full review in the caption (and a video of Kurtis assembling it) here if you’re interested. I will likely swap out the back pillow insert for something firmer, but other than that, we love it! And the slipcover is fully removable and washable which is so rare for a chair at this price point! Henley has basically claimed it as her own.

Although I haven’t started decorating for Christmas, I did quickly style these few pieces on our entryway console when they arrived. I was very happy with the quality of the village (it is super heavy). And, I’m going in a totally new decorating direction this year for Christmas. I organized a few things I love and decided to call my plans Florida Citrus Coastal. I haven’t exactly found everything I envisioned needing, so it may be interesting 😉

I’ve received several questions as to when I’ll be sharing a home tour. I actually took some photos last week, but every room still feels so unfinished! We still don’t even have our real fridge and are using the salesperson’s garage fridge. Ha! I have another delivery arriving today that will help wrap up the living room a little better. And since I have to decorate for Christmas shortly, I’ll likely do a “before” tour like a few of you suggested. The rooms won’t be finished but it gives a good baseline of where we started. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m pretty sure it’s going to take us a few years to get everything where we want it and we’re totally okay with that! So, long story short, I hope to share a post with more images very soon!

Around Town & For Fun

We said goodbye to Kurtis’ sister and brother-in-law the weekend before last. We enjoyed their three weeks here so much and it was hard to say goodbye! Hopefully they’ll be visiting us fairly often though. We had a lot of laughs and fun playing cards back on our outdoor dining table! Kurtis and I have also eaten a lot of meals out here recently. So nice to have more spaces that are starting to come together!

The weather has been absolutely gorgeous the past two weeks. There’s a reason why locals say October is their favorite month of the year! We were able to open up our 16′ slider onto the back screened-in porch several days and it was so nice! Bailey was definitely a little confused though 😉

We tried to bike to Raw & Juicy for the first time in a few months. We got a few streets away and realized our bike tires had gone semi-flat from not using them for so long. Oops! So, we had to drive to Alys Beach instead. There are definitely some signs of fall around 30A, including a few changing leaves and trees dropping some leaves.

Tuesday night team trivia is usually the perfect time to catch a gorgeous sunset! Even if your team can’t focus on anything other than winning 😉

Golf classes are in full swing, with lessons, practice or games occurring three days a week. But we’re having a lot of fun!

The foggy fall mornings on the course are so beautiful! All the colors are so vivid and look fake.

My friend Susie at Studio Gallery 30A hosted a pop up last week with Palm Beach Artist Collective and I was drooling over every single piece of art! Susie’s gallery is one of my favorite spots along 30A and definitely a must to visit if you’re in the area!

We had dinner at Camp Creek twice this week because the weather has been so beautiful. It’s fun getting to go back to places we avoided during the busy/hot season!

Friday Kurtis had an appointment in Destin and then Ft. Walton, so we grabbed lunch at Tommy Bahama’s in Sandestin in between. The oleander was in full bloom, and it reminded me that I really need to get some at our house. Side note: we are always so impressed with the food, drinks and service at Tommy Bahama. It’s legit good – I just wish it were closer!

Cute finds at Pottery Barn while I was in Sandestin. I stopped in to refresh our pom throws and thought this oversized rust-colored vase was stunning (it also comes in navy!!) and this plaid bottle topper would be cute for a hostess gift!

Kurtis is still doing his 3 mile walks at sunrise. He literally almost ran into this beauty one morning last week. He turned the corner on the path and was like “I think I’ll just go the other way…” 😉

Saturday afternoon, my friend Rachel and I did some house stalking in a few new construction homes near us. She’s as nerdy as me when it comes to floor plans and design details so we wandered for hours. So much fun! I’m actually kind of annoyed that I didn’t take any photos of some of my favorite features. Next time!

With the slightly cooler temps (we had a few mornings in the 50’s!), we ran our fireplace for the first time. So far, only Henley seems interested, but knowing past behaviors, it won’t be long until they’re all obsessed and soaking up the heat!

We had to do a quick maintenance run down at our commercial building, so I walked across the street to check the beach conditions. It was actually “really” windy that day. Coming from Omaha, it’s not uncommon to have wind blowing nearly every day. We didn’t realize just how much it blew there until we moved here where it’s still nearly all the time. We have to laugh when we’re in wind advisories here for 20 mph wind, because that’s like a regular random day in Omaha!

I’m super excited for my friend Mandy to arrive today! We’re working on something special and can’t wait to share more about it. We have a busy working week ahead of us but I can promise we’ll still have so much fun together! Kurtis is in Omaha the whole week while she’s here and then we have more friends arriving later this week, followed by our Omaha besties and goddaughters the week after. It’s never a dull moment when you live in a vacation town!

I am curious where you got your artwork for your Frame TV in the loft space?
    Thank you

It was just one of the free ones when I turn on the TV 🙂 I’m guessing in the Samsung gallery? I don’t have a membership any longer but it still lets me select some of them.

Thank you! And that’s our ice maker. We probably wouldn’t have added one on our own but it was included with this floorplan. We actually use it a lot more than we thought we would!

Well I’m sure impressed with the progress you two are making! It’s looking so wonderful. I LOVED seeing your slider all the way open…so cool! Kitties look happy as can be.. so cute!
I’m really considering getting a couple of the WalMart chairs…if you say they’re good I know I’d like them. It’s always so nice to have a recommendation from somebody whose opinion you trust! Thanks for that.
Looking forward to more photos of the house. I’ll keep following along!
