I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! We are co-hosting a large family/friend party at our home this coming weekend so we had to get our butts in gear around here on a lot of projects and clean-up!

Home Updates & Projects
On Thursday, I was able to get the dining room 99% of the way cleaned out! It was such a relief to see the top of our dining table again! I don’t think I’d seen the surface of the table in over a months since it was our dumping station for our kitchen cabinets!

On Saturday, our kitchen designer Erica dropped off the remainder of our kitchen hardware. While she was here we looked through fabric swatches for roman shades in the living room. You may recall back when I started painting the living room, I had known that once the trim got painted, we’d have to get new window coverings. The old ones came with the house and were screwed directly into the window trim itself. So, since it all got a fresh coat of paint, we knew we no longer wanted them attached that way. We’ll be doing inside mount roman shades instead. We looked at two linen options and then a more textured/woven option. We’re leaning towards the top sample to add some texture and warmth in the room. I’ll keep you posted!
Saturday and Sunday, Kurtis worked to clean out the garage. Friday, we had called 800 Got Junk to come take the balance of the kitchen scraps (basically everything that couldn’t be donated). We hadn’t been able to park our cars in the garage for nearly a month, so it was definitely time! It looks so good now (and we got our parking spots back)! This photo is actually while he was still working on it. He ended up totally cleaning is work bench off too and then sweeping and hosing the floor off. So much better!
I’m also working on a quick refresh for our mudroom. Now that the trim has been painted in there as well, I figured it was time I stopped neglecting the room. We swapped out the old light fixture and I can’t wait to show you the new one! Hopefully I’ll have that ready for you next week!
Around Town & For Fun
Saturday morning we worked on a bunch of things around the house and then went out to the pool. I had just gotten done telling Kurtis that I swear all my potato vines had been significantly longer (like dragging on the ground long) a week or two back and I couldn’t figure out what was happening. Well, turns out this little guy has turned my planters into an all-you-can-eat buffet. He sat there and literally stripped ten long vines within minutes, sucking them up and eating them. It was cute the first time, but then we had to keep scaring him away. No wonder they look like they’ve been annihilated lately! We actually caught him on video standing on his hind legs just looking thru everything before taking huge bites.
Even these ones were hit, but were already so much larger they don’t look as bad. Crazy rabbit!
Saturday night, Jill and Nick had us over for dinner. We had steaks on the grill and fresh caprese salad. It was all so good! And I was reunited with my favorite Zoe again!
Sunday we spent most of the early part of the day working but then spent the afternoon out at the pool. We decided that July weekends are probably the best. The weather is always so perfect for the pool! And, I’m excited to say that after a rough first month (when the wind blew off all the petals), my bougainvillea is blooming with a vengeance again. This fertilizer is the one I swear buy and makes blooms grow like crazy!

We ended the day with dinner at Shucks and then I watched Letters to Juliet (one of my favorites)! It ended up being a great mix of work and fun this weekend!

We’ve had a bunny near my planters and have actually left out carrots! I
hope it doesn’t start eating my sweet potato vines – they are ridiculously long now!

Try sprinkling cayenne pepper on your planters. A few years back I had a squirrel that kept digging in my hanging baskets, and was tearing apart the coir liner to make a nest! I sprinkled cayenne pepper on the plants and have never had a problem since. Just be careful when you are shaking the pepper on; the wind blew it back into my eyes. That was fun.

My hubs had to get rid of our visitor rabbit after he kept eating our perennials, grass, etc. We bought a trap but there was no amount of spinach that could make him go there. Sadly, the bb-gun was the only option. Do you ever put cover on your pool to keep the heat in or leave it open? Also, I can’t remember if you chose the salt water system or not. Have you had any negative issues with it as far as rusting metals, etc.?
