weekend projects {recap}: walls + chalkboard art + laziest cats ever

DIY Projects, Room Makeovers + Design Plans

I was off of work on Friday so I stayed home and primed the island and painted our entryway wall off our garage (to prep for adding the board + batten there).
Saturday, the husband and I got to work on tearing off the baseboards and adding all the new wood.  It also required that we tear off some of the trim around the cap leading up the stairs and replacing that with wider wood as well.

Today we wrapped up the wall and I added a few more coats of paint to the existing wall.  It is finally starting to all come together!  We still have a lot of caulking and sanding and painting to do {don’t I say that every time I post about this project?} but the end is near!

I was also able to complete my chalkboard project mentioned here.  Here is the before shot {this is the best I could do – the cats thought it was the most fascinating thing ever}:

Here are the cats mad that I was let outside to paint the chalkboard and they were not {think its time for me to wash the screen door?!?}:

I then spray painted the frame in a high gloss white.  I won’t show you the damage I did to the street….here is the board once painted and then getting primed with chalk {I have read that this is a must so it is erasable in the future}.  You then just wipe the chalk off and you are ready to go!
I am also contemplating distressing the edges and detail work a little.  What do you think?

And last, but not least, while we were hard at work the kids were as lazy as ever.  They also got a new playground this weekend {SPOILED} but love it more than anything and spent their awake time playing in it.  Here is their new hut and their lazy time.

And the funniest part of the weekend:  Bearcat found a new comfy pillow.  Of the 4000+ square feet in our house, he choose THAT spot to fall asleep.  He is so weird!!
