Before summer arrives, one of my goals is to make some deck curtains. Our deck faces west, so at night there is a LOT of heat and sunlight shining on the surface. So, my goal is to whip up some panels with outdoor fabric that can be tied back tightly for all the windy nights in Omaha. I found a post here that is a lot like what I am looking and has some directions to follow if you are interested in making some too {I found this post last year and saved it with the intent of working on this project this year because I thought hers turned out so cute}. It is weird because the back of her house looks a lot like ours {especially since we are planning to stain our deck and pergola a dark walnut color this spring}! We can draw the curtains shut when we are on our deck in the evenings and then tie them back each night to ensure they aren’t blown away or ripped to shreds. Plus, they look really cute too!
I love the crisp feel of the bright white curtains but am also oohing and aahing over this adorable Pottery Barn version {but made by me as I obviously won’t spend $119 per panel when I need six of them!}
