Wednesday Watch List

Welcome to this week’s Wednesday Watch List, where I share the random things that captured my attention and stole my heart over the past week!

1 – The cutest affordable woven straw handbag that’s perfect for spring, summer, or a beach vacation! It’s compact but large enough to hold the essentials. It comes in two colors and two additional shapes, and has a strap included to make it crossbody!

2 – This striped tiered tank dress looks like a cute option for spring into summer! Wear it with a denim jacket now and sleeveless in the hotter months! It’s an easy one to throw on and immediately look more polished while still staying comfy. And it’s nearly 50% off today! They also have 30% off most full-priced styles right now with code SALETIME.

3 – The Brooke & Lou spring collection launched this week, and there are so many gorgeous home decor pieces! I’m loving this dark wood chain, these lemon tree placemats, this navy stripe paper table runner, and this rug. They also have this white dot planter in stock. I have it in multiple sizes and it has been sold out for ages!

4 – I get a lot of questions about where and how I store my throw pillow covers and inserts. I love just having one set of inserts and using covers rather than pillows that come with the insert included. Over the last few months with all our construction, I had a lot less pillows out though and needed a more effective way to store the unused inserts. I found these reusable spacesaver bags and they are a gamechanger! They work for so many things, including bedding, clothing, travel, etc. You fill your bag with item (I used the XL bags) and then suck the air out with the included pump or with the hose on your vacuum. It’s super quick and it’s amazing how much space they save! I left about 25% of the air in mine because I didn’t want to damage the feathers if they were stored long term, but it’s amazing how much less space they take up now! I haven’t tried it yet with polyfill inserts yet – just my down and down alternative. I’ll try and hop on Instagram Stories later today to show how it all works! I’ll save a highlight there, as well for “Pillow Storage”. The bag below has FOUR 24″ pillow inserts in there. And it’s the height of less than one pillow!

I then store all my covers in a closet. I have been moving them all over to these hangers so I don’t have to iron them when I want to use them. I hate ironing basically more than anything, so this is a great way to keep them stored without adding creases or wrinkles!

White Wood Hangers

5 – Over the last few months, I realized I have an allergy to many detergents. I had tried a few new ones, and would sneeze uncontrollably wearing freshly laundered items. I then started getting rashes around my sock lines and where clothes would touch my skin in tighter proximity. I made the switch to a free and clear detergent and noticed a difference immediately. More recently, I have been using these wool dryer balls (they’re on sale today!) in place of dryer sheets.

Wool Dryer Balls

Admittedly, I do miss the “clean” fragrance, but I’m not entirely convinced it wasn’t the fragrances in the first place that were bothering me. I took it to Instagram to see what others use, and these are the most common responses I received back:

  • Nothing
  • Lavender essential oil
  • Orange essential oil
  • Lemon essential oil
  • Cedar essential oil
  • Lemongrass essential oil

I also had a few tips to attach a safety pin to the ball to help with the static cling! Genius! If you have any other tips or scent recommendations, I’d love to hear!

Yes! I love my dryer balls! They have reduced drying time, too! I hope your skin feels better now.

I also had a problem with irritation in areas where my clothing was a bit tight on my body! You use the Beekman balls for the dryer; they make a laundry detergent (Happy Place natural laundry soap with goat milk); I use the ‘pure’ unscented option. There is also a sweet grass option which I have not used that has a bit of a scent. You can purchase at hsn.com; ingredients for the pure unscented option are goat milk soap, soda ash, baking soda, salt, borax and sodium metasilicate; it is in powder form. 1 scoop is all you use in a large wash load; no need for fabric softener or any dryer sheets when drying clothes. My clothing has never been so soft and I no longer have any irritation on my body. I hope this helps!
