Welcome to this week’s Wednesday Watch List, where I share the random things that captured my attention and stole my heart over the past week!

1 – I’m convinced that Studio McGee can do no wrong. This Seattle full home makeover (interior and exterior) is pretty unreal! I think the entryway is my favorite space. But, you can explore both part I and part II to see the all the details and entire home tour. So good!
2 – Loving these cute graphic totes that have sayings like “Weekend Vibes”, “Escape”, Road Trip”, etc. Such a fun day-trip, pool or overnight bag. And the reviews are excellent!
3 – This wooden links object is a cool, organic version of my wicker links and wood chain I got from PB about five years ago (similar option still available here). I love styling these on coffee tables, console tables, etc. and they also look great on bookshelves if you go with a smaller version. This is one of the more unique versions I’ve seen! It’s currently 20% off and ships free with code FRIENDS. They have a picture of it styled and extended on their site if you’re interested.
4 – I’ve heard a lot of great things about this cute tank sundress. It comes in five colors and makes for the perfect “easy” summer outfit. I put this little mood board together with it and a few other items for summer. Such a great basic that could be worn so many ways! I’m loving this “hazel” color right now for summer. In fact I realized that as I was wearing this J. Crew top, that looks like the same color in person, while typing this 😉 It’s also a super cute option when it’s on sale!
OUTFIT SOURCES: Tank Dress | Straw Hat | Raffia Earrings (similar look for less here) | Tortoise Sunglasses (look for less here) | Striped Tote | Sandal Slides (look for less here)
5 – I ordered this wireless phone/AirPods/Apple Watch charger (also works with some Samsung products) a month or two back and have been absolutely loving it! I have it in my office so while I’m working, I love that my phone is propped up to see incoming texts, call, etc. while also charging (it’s fast too). I don’t even have an Apple Watch and I still love that I can charge my phone and AirPods simultaneously or separately without extra wires. It’s perfect for a nightstand too. Highly recommended!

Hi, in a recent post you wrote “I may not have the right words at this time, but I vow to open my heart and my mind going forward and be a better ally.” How are you using your platform, and your voice, to amplify work from Black designers and decorators? I haven’t seen a change but I’d like to see one.
Sarah says
I still wholeheartedly stand by those words since making that statement a week ago. But this is a long-term plan for me that is still evolving, and likely always will. I wouldn’t make the assumption after a few days of posts that nothing is actually changing or that I haven’t been opening my eyes and heart or being an ally. I think we could all demonstrate a little grace and patience with everyone in our lives right now.
Stephanie says
I don’t disagree! But I’ve also seen a lot of influencers take an immediate step to use their voice to amplify lists of local businesses that are owned by Black people. You have a gift with your platform. You reach thousands of people and can demonstrate your allyship in immediate and long term ways. I’ve seen great examples with the Share the Mic movement on Instagram, and hyper local ones with the Bearded Builders. I know white people feel nervous about choosing the right words. I know it’s a work in progress. But it’s also time to get out of your comfort zone and demonstrate what you are doing.

Would love it if you highlighted more POC-owned businesses for these, instead of bix box stores!

I actually had a darling shop I found last week in today’s post (https://www.instagram.com/thetinytassel/) until I realized last night that most of her site is currently sold out or with 21-28 day shipping delays since most of her products are handmade. I’ll be circling back to her when availability increases. Most POC-owned Etsy shops I’ve found are temporarily closed due to demand over the past few weeks, as well.Â
I’d love to hear some of your current favorites and ones you frequent!

Hi Sarah. I read your blog because I love your style and ideas. I am a minority, however, I do not expect you to “amplify” designers/decorators solely based on their race (unless, of course, you love their style). I agree with you; we all need to show a little grace and patience right now. Cheers!
Sarah says
I appreciate your perspective, Noe! That’s exactly part of my long-term goals. To find small businesses, accounts, and designers I love that deserve recognition – regardless of their background in any form. I’ve found some gems this past week and I’m excited to bring them to light over time, both on the blog and on social media!
