On Monday, I discussed my home goals for the new year. Today I want to share a new goal for this blog for 2014. But first, a little background information.
I don’t have to travel a lot for my job, but there are two times of year {early spring and late fall} where my travel schedule seems non-stop. My husband and I also try to take one destination vacation a year if possible, in addition to one large trip we take with his company each year. We are blessed to be able to see so much of the world, particularly since it brings us so much joy. We truly believe in ‘work hard, play hard’. Each time we are on vacation or exploring somewhere new, we are reminded of why we work so hard and it makes the tough days not as bad.

When I converted my previously private blog over to public, I removed a lot of the old travel content {mostly because there were so many photos of us and it was more a journal for us to remember the trip}. It is something I now miss.

However, over the upcoming year I would like to share more of our travels on the blog. My hope is for the posts not to come off as show-offy or ‘look at all the fabulous places I’ve gone’ {and in reality, some of the ‘fabulous places I go’, I am stuck in a convention hall the whole trip}. Rather, I would like for the travel posts to be a source of inspiration for other adventurers or for those looking to explore other corners of the world from the comfort of their home computers. This won’t be a travel scrapbook of our adventures – think more imagery from each location as well as general reviews and thoughts on the destination. And don’t worry – I’ll also plan to capture all the fun design elements of the accommodations along the way.

With this plan, I have also set a personal goal to finish my Rosetta Stone {in Spanish} that I started four years ago. In 2010, I completed more than half of the program and made incredible progress. And then I stopped. I have already re-started and want to be fluent by year end! {As a side-note, I’m also trying to up my photography skills this year so I hope that will only improve any travel-related posts}.

2014 already looks to be an exciting year of travel. Without going into too much detail, between now and mid-May I will be gone for a total of six weeks – some for work, some for pleasure. New countries, new experiences, new cultures. I hope you will enjoy the travel posts as much as you enjoy the other topics you read about here. Thank you for following along!

I’m so excited for the travel posts… we went to Greece right before Drew was born and it was the best trip of my life… seeing your France and Italy pics has me itching to get over that way again… I don’t think your posts will come off as show off-y… work hard, play hard. You should get away and see things! 🙂
