This weekend, I wasn’t actually planning on getting all that much accomplished. Saturday I had a baby shower and a surprise 30th birthday party that were going to take most of the day. However, surprisingly, I was able to cover all of the remaining Pale Silver with the new Behr Castle Path on the main floor. You can see I avoided the walls that go all the way up to the second floor. That’s going to be an entirely different project.

The below comparison is just crazy to me. The photos were taken in similar lighting conditions. And look how much the trim/door/railing color changes simply by switching the wall colors. It’s definitely still cream but nowhere near as noticeable. I can breathe again! 😉

And just to compare where it was when we did our initial walk through {you can see what a difference a lighter paint and an eggshell – versus matte – finish does for the space}!
While I had the paint out, I decided to start painting the walls in the guest bedroom as well. My intent is not to paint the entire house Castle Path, but I think it makes sense in here with the board and batten treatment. I didn’t want it to get too crazy otherwise.

You can see I only got about halfway done {the left side has not yet been painted}, but I think that has inspired me even more to get everything wrapped up!

Here’s a side-by-side shot of the two paint colors. The new paint really helps to freshen up the space. The walls were not in great shape in this room either, so it helped to cover the fingerprints, scuffs, etc.

Before and after with Behr Castle Path paint

All in all, I was extremely happy with how much I got done on Friday and Sunday! Next weekend I need to apply the second coat and perhaps get started on sewing the pillows for the bed. Oh, and hang the orb light. And the remaining sconces…

I do recall the first time I had to paint. It was fun job, but a difficult one at that because I always overlapped through the trimming and railings. Anyway, you did a remarkable job! What type of paint did you use for the wall? Is it gloss or semi-gloss?

Hi Kayce – I actually used an Eggshell paint (Behr’s Castle Path with the paint and primer in one). On the trim I have painted, I have used a semi-gloss (in Behr’s Swiss Coffee). Thanks!
