I wanted to share with you the master closet reveal that is all organized with new storage!
As mentioned, we started making changes to our master closet last weekend and we were able to wrap everything up today.  It is one area in our house that we were never really happy with.  It’s just too small, and really isn’t much bigger than a standard closet, other than you could walk in to stand in front of it.  But this weekend we moved upwards and it made a huge difference!  Just as a reminder, here is where we started last weekend {before I started the cleaning and getting rid of the 12 bags of clothes}:

Some new handy storage features – shoe racks on the top shelf, a new shelf over the hanging area to allow for an entire new row of shirts, a shelving unit to organize all of the husbands folded clothes, and a trick I saw for ties and scarves on Pinterest: hooking shower curtain rings to a hanger for an easy {and space-saving} storage of these items!  Brilliant!

And for those other people who are concerned we covered our hole to the attic – don’t worry.  We blocked that off a few years ago when we figured it wasn’t practical to access that area above all of our clothes {given that there is blown in insulation right above it}.  So, a few years back, the husband and his dad made a new access point in our garage.
 And for those of you worried that the husband doesn’t have anywhere to put his shoes, rest assured – he does – in the linen closet.  And since his feet are so big, he can only put one shoe in each hole.
With the new space, I moved some of my seasonal clothes to the upper rack and will swap them out as needed.  We also have a step stool handy in the closet for easy reach to the shoe racks.  The husband has now been able to move a lot of his clothes from the front bedroom back into ‘our’ closet – given that I had pretty much taken it over previously.  I think he is happy with the extra space!  The new rack added was actually saved from when we tore down the rack in our laundry room and had added cupboards.  So, this was not only an easy project, but cheap as well!
