Summer Home Tour: Part II

Home Tour

Welcome to part two of my summer home tour. In case you missed it, I shared the first part of my summer tour last week in this post. Today, thanks to Krista at The Happy Housie, I’ve partnered up with six other blogger friends to share even more of my summer home tour – and you have six new homes to also tour!

If you’re new to my blog, welcome! My husband and I moved into our current home about two and a half years ago and are in the process of slowly making it “ours”, one DIY project at a time. You can read more about our DIY projects and room makeovers here.  On to the tour!

Welcome to our home in Omaha, Nebraska. Summer is my absolute favorite time of year, and I love working on projects in our yard every bit as much as I love decorating the inside of our home. You’ll recognize some of these pictures from the last tour, but I’ve also added some new spaces!

This year, I changed things up from prior years. I opted to keep my usual blue, green and neutral color scheme, but rather than using the more muted colors I’ve used in the past, I went full on saturated. Deep blues and greens felt really fresh to me this year. Everything has a bit of a coastal/nautical feel, without being too themey.

As we’re walking down that hallway, the one is a two- story wall of windows and doors leading to our courtyard (more on that space in a minute). But here is the view out the windows. It might be my favorite ever.

I also went more saturated in the living room, using deeper cobalt blues and bold greens. I think it works well with all of our otherwise neutral decor. I’ll be sharing a tutorial for the pineapple vases in the next week or so. They might be my favorite thing from the entire tour!

The dining room is still a little ways away from being complete but I am loving the progress, especially now that the new light is in! It was also fun to spruce the room up a little with a more festive bar cart.

We rearranged our master bedroom a bit over the last month or so. We moved the long bench we once had under our master window to the foot of our bed. It is a  minor change but the new layout feels really good. I bet an actual reveal of this room at some point would feel even better though 😉 I also added in a striped throw pillow to the bed. I don’t know why, but stripes always feel summery to me. I also added a cute mercury glass pineapple to my nightstand.

In our guest bedroom, I decided to add some preppy green and white striped lumbar pillows to the bed. I sewed the pillows myself using Windsor Smith’s Cap DeLuca Stripe in Veridian. I don’t know that this will be the ‘forever’ home for these pillows but I love the addition of the fresh green to the space. You can also catch a glimpse of a fun summer project I added to the space (I’ll be sharing more on that on Thursday)!

Our mudroom, which is still a long ways from being completed (i.e. this is actually just primer on the planks), got a little summer refresh with a fun clearance print from HomeGoods:

Since I posted the part I tour last week, our flowers have really taken off! I like to give credit to my favorite fertilizer. It’s amazing and it is ridiculous how happy my flowers make me when they are all in full bloom!

Your courtyard is incredible! And I love the more saturated colours- it definitely has a perfect amount of summery nautical touches without being themey. I can’t quite get over your dining room fixture Sarah. Wow! Amazing tour – pinning and share on FB of course!

Good Evening, I just found your blog and love reading/looking through it! I’ve been looking for some new throws for our family room and have always been partial to a good herringbone pattern. Do you mind sharing where you got your beautiful blue throw blankets in your family room?

    Thank you!

Thank you! I got these at Target a few years back so I don’t think they have them any longer. I do know Nordstrom Rack had some recently online (I did a post a week or two back called ‘Get The Look’ that featured them. I hope that helps!
