Striped Outdoor Curtains | One Look, Six Stores

Decorating Ideas, Tips and Trends, Landscaping and Outdoor Spaces

We spent all last week in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico for my husband’s job and it was incredible but I’m glad to be home again. Hopefully I’ll have some room tours to share with you soon from the trip. I have one solid week of travel for business next week, then, the good news is, I’m done with travel until next fall! It will be good to be home for a change.

With all the time we’ve spent in warm locales recently, my mind pretty much thinks it’s already summer. About a week back, I started looking for some outdoor curtains for our back covered patio. The space has a south and west exposure and has very little privacy from neighbors to the west. I’m looking for something that not only blocks the evening sun, but provides some privacy for the space.

Years and years back, likely before any of you were reading this blog, I talked about some black and white striped outdoor curtains inspiration for our pergola at our last home. Those same images inspire me today and I think this is the route I still want to go for our covered porch {although I’m not 100% set on the color scheme yet and may need to go with a softer gray and white scheme}.

Striped Outdoor Curtains - Six Stores, One LookI started my search with Pottery Barn where the original inspiration photo came from {shown in the image above}. Surprisingly, and knowing what outdoor/Sunbrella fabric sells for, I didn’t think they were too overly priced. But, given that I feel I am an internet ninja when it comes to finding deals, I think I found the exact same curtains at a wide variety of different stores. As in, EXACT same striped outdoor curtains. And most of them all sell the same color options.

So, I thought I would round-up all the links so you have them and can watch them to see when they are cheapest at each of the various stores {I realize this likely changes on a weekly basis depending on sales}. Simply click the link below with the name of the store to be brought directly to the product link {these all seem identical, right?!?}:

Pottery Barn

Overstock

Sears

Lamps Plus

Kohl’s

Macy’s

Target {solid colors only}

Pottery Barn by far has the widest selection of colors and lengths {and their price is very competitive}. Macy’s by far seems the most expensive, but I know at times they can have killer sales so I included them in the round-up.

If you aren’t wanting to spend the money on pre-made curtains, keep in mind these would be easy to crank out with your own outdoor fabric and a grommet kit you can get from your local fabric store {in this post I shared a link to a tutorial I found nearly five years ago on how to make your own}.

Lastly, a few final looks to inspire you and demonstrate the beauty of striped outdoor curtains:

Ohh I love this idea!! I’m a big fan of huge curtains. We don’t have any in our apartment right now because our windows have shades but I can’t wait to get some when we have a house!

I definitely love the look of stripe outdoor curtains. I was hunting for them last year after my hubby built our patio cover. I hunted all over but with the height and the width of our patio cover, it would cost quite a bit, and I wasn’t willing to do it after spending the money building the cover too. Needless to say, I ended up buying canvas paint drop cloths and curtain panel clip rings to hang them. It gives our patio a relaxed, beachy feel. The length still doesn’t cover the full height of the space but it doesn’t take away from the homey feel. We get a lot of sun in that area in the afternoon and it moves around from one hour to the next, so we’ve got curtains on both sides but also planning on adding a couple more on the front part this year.

So many beautiful outdoor rooms featured here. I enjoy bits and pieces from all of them and would be thrilled to call any of them my own. We are planning something similar to this for our outdoor entertaining by our pool

Are you concerned about the dirt factor with outdoor curtains? I have a screened in porch that captures a lot of dirt and pollen. Maybe it depends where you live? I am in the Northeast.
