Holiday entertaining can get costly in a hurry, particularly if you’re hosting. Today I wanted to share a unique blue Thanksgiving tablescape, and also share where I’m willing to splurge versus save when it comes to creating tablescapes. Plus, at the end of the post I’m offering a giveaway to one lucky reader!

What you’ll quickly see is that I’m willing to spend a bit more on an item when I feel like I can use it for several seasons and/or it can multi-task for other purposes. It might be fun at the time to splurge on trendy items are very specific seasonal decor, but you’ll likely be happier in the long run if you search for more affordable trendy items and then save your investment pieces for staple entertaining elements.  Pier 1 Imports is not only affordable but offer a variety of versatility in their products and their entertaining section is so expansive!

For this tablescape, I went with non-traditional colors and opted for a look with true blues, metallics and some organic, rustic elements. This gives a slightly coastal flair to the tablescape, all while still feeling cozy and warm for a Thanksgiving meal!

Blue and white Thanksgiving dining room with navy blue doxology canvas, Darlana linear pendant, blue wine glasses, reclaimed wood table, and linen chairs.

Our table is extremely porous, so we don’t eat at it unless we have a tablecloth or placemats down. I loved the thickness of the weave on these blue and white woven placemats, and they helped tie the lighter colors from the tablescape in with the richer blues! They’re basically like little rugs for each place setting and I love the added texture they provide! I used these deep blue napkins to tie all the blues together. I prefer to go cheap though, on simple seasonal decor. For example, the metallic pumpkins from Pier 1. They came in a long tube and ended up costing just over $1 each! But, they add the perfect amount of seasonal whimsy and shine to the table!

Look at this gorgeous blue and white coastal inspired Thanksgiving tablescape.

The driftwood chargers were a splurge for me, but I was willing to spend more because I can use them all seasons of the year! They coordinate so well with our table and gift the perfect rustic or beachy vibe to any place setting!

A blue Thanksgiving place setting with driftwood chargers and woven blue and white placemats and blue wine glasses.

For the centerpiece, I bought three of these large branches with faux moss. They are very substantial and would work just as well in a spring or summer tablescape as they would a fall tablescape. I simply added two sprigs of oak leaves (not available online, so check your local stores for availability). In the spring you could add in a more fitting sprig to completely change the look! You could just as easily go with some fresh clipping from outside for an even more budget-friendly approach!

Touches of greenery add life to driftwood charges and bright blue glasses in this gorgeous Thanksgiving tablescape.

I added these super soft plush indigo pillows at the head seats, to add some bold dark blues to the space. I splurged a bit on these blue acrylic wine glasses. They are by no means crazy expensive, however I typically like to keep my servingware neutral and don’t usually splurge on colored items. In this case though, I loved the rich blue, and because these are acrylic, I know they can multi-purpose for outdoor entertaining as well!

Blue and white Thanksgiving dining room with navy blue doxology canvas, Darlana linear pendant, blue wine glasses, navy blue velvet pillow, oak leaves and branches centerpiece, reclaimed wood table, and linen chairs.

At the end of the day, only splurge on items you know you’ll use regardless of season and/or those you know you can use for years to come! Then, plan to save on trendy items or ones you’ll like only get a use or two out of!

I hope you enjoyed these tips and this non-traditional blue Thanksgiving tablescape! What are your favorite ways to save on holiday entertaining expenses?

I love the fact that all Thanksgiving tables don’t need to be fall themed. The blue looks great. But I’m wondering what do you do with your food when serving, do you remove all the centerpiece stuff or always do a buffet? Where do you put the platters and vegetable bowls, etc.

They are stunning and match a large round mirror in my front hallway perfectly. I love blue but have never really been drawn to it to decorate with in the past but that has all changed. I have at least Turquoise in every room and recently started to incorporate a few different shades in my living room. I would be so comfortable walking into your home, thanks for the mini tour, I can’t wait to see more now that I’m subscribing to your site.
