Can you believe I started my blog on this day clear back in 2008?!? Yes, blogging was around 15 years ago 😉
As a nod to my blogging roots, I’ve made it a goal of mine to occasionally share simpler posts this year. When I refreshed our bedding earlier this week, I took a few iPhone photos and decided this would be my first step in doing just that 🙂 Typically I’d wait until my spring home tour (which is likely another month or two away), but I wanted to share it now while the items are still available (and on sale)! So today I’m sharing some simple updates in our bedroom and hopefully it will help demonstrate that sometimes just a few simple swaps in your rooms can make a big difference in the overall vibe!

If you’re like me, sometimes I’m not excited about my spaces until I have the plan fully developed and entirely executed. But I’m trying to be better about celebrating the little victories and enjoying the spaces as they stand. We have so many plans for our new house, but I have to remember they’re likely going to take years to fully complete. So, simple updates that make the spaces feel a bit more put together is key.
Once I took down our Christmas decor, I was needing some color injected back into a few spaces. Our bedroom was the first stop because it felt like it needed the most help. I have a lot of long-term plans for this space, but I wanted to give it a post-holiday refresh in the meantime.
Our Christmas Bedroom Decor
Here is what our bedroom looked like up until a few days ago, as I shared it in our Christmas home tour. I loved it during the Christmas season because it felt calm and less cluttered with the rest of our house full of holiday decor. But once the wreath came down, it was all feeling really drab and dark, and a bit boring.

Simple Bedroom Updates to Inject Some Color
Here is a look at our bedroom now. It’s by no means perfect and I have a lot to do, but I feel so much better about the overall vibe now! I actually bought all of this bedding last year (some before we even moved), knowing that it would be perfect for this space I had planned. Luckily for you, most of it is on clearance now (the quilt is even an extra 20% off thru the weekend with code EXTRA). My procrastination has paid off 😉 But also consider shopping your house to see what elements you already have that you can use in a new way. Maybe pull some pillows you previously used in your living room to use in your bedroom in a new way. Then it might be something as simple as a greenery or floral update, rather than a full room makeover, that can make your spaces feel fresh again!

The colorful bedding really helps to make the space feel more cheerful now! And I’m kind of obsessed with the pop of stripes peeking out from the sheets.
A Blue Coastal Bedroom Mood Board
Anybody remember this design plan I made over a year and half ago and shared in this post?! I’m slowly trying to bring it all to life in one form or another. This bedding refresh feels like a great first step! At the time I hadn’t nailed down the exact elements of the space, and the board uses a lot of the look-for-less options for this space.

Here is a look at the other side of the room now (wide-angle version, so it all fits). I had really wanted to make the artwork work above the bed, like in the design plan above, but unfortunately it’s just too large. However, it adds some nice color to this side of the room!
I’m glad I pushed to make these simple changes now, rather than wait until it officially felt like spring! This room makes me so much happier when I walk in now. I swapped the winter evergreens for this faux baby’s breath I shared yesterday. It helps brighten up the nightstand without feeling too spring or summery. It’s a perfect in-between floral! I also ordered this mini scalloped tray for my nightstand to corral my lip balm and water that I typically have out, as well.
I hope you enjoyed these simple bedroom updates! If you’re stuck in a post-holiday decorating rut, I encourage you to shop your house and see what simple swaps you can make, too!
