Our Summer Coastal Bedroom

Decorating Ideas, Tips and Trends

Much like my post last week sharing our coastal loft decorated for summer, I’m coming at you today with another simple post! Today I’m sharing our summer bedroom. I keep it decorated fairly minimally, but it’s been a while since I shared the space so I thought I’d share it in summer form, before more layers enter in for the cooler months.

This post contains affiliate links for your shopping convenience. You can read my full disclosure policy here.

Here is the view of our bedroom from the doorway. The room has a fairly small footprint, but the vaulted ceiling really helps make the space feel much more grand!

BEDROOM SOURCES: Pinch Pleat Curtains (Beige White) | Curtain Rods (1.25″ diameter) – look for less here | Curtain Rings | Blue Linen Bed (look for less here) | Nightstands (look for less here) | Striped Sheets | Pick-Stitch Quilt | Euro Shams | Block Print Pillow Covers | Long Linen Lumbar Pillow | Lamps | Vase | Faux Snowball Viburnum | Rug | Bench | Coral Style Mirror | Artwork | Wall and Trim Color: Sherwin Williams Snowbound

We only use sheets and this pick-stitch quilt in the summer months. We’ve had this quilt since Omaha (and even owned it several years there) and it has washed and held-up like a dream! So much easier than a duvet cover and insert like we use in the cooler months.

We’ve had these nightstands for close to seven years now and they’re still one of my favorite pieces of furniture!

The art on the opposite side of the room is still a favorite – but so hard to photograph from most angles because of the reflection from the windows! If we don’t sell this house furnished, I fully intend to use this art in my future office because I love it so much and want to see it more frequently during daylight hours!

The affordable pinch pleat drapes we installed early this year have really helped add to the coziness of this space. I share a lot more info about them in this post if you’re interested.

If we weren’t planning to move in less than a year, I absolutely would have done something fun with these walls. I had wallpaper in mind, but otherwise a pretty paint color would have been nice too! I just don’t want to lock a future homeowner into my decisions that may not be their taste!

BEDROOM SOURCES: Pinch Pleat Curtains (Beige White) | Curtain Rods (1.25″ diameter) – look for less here | Curtain Rings | Blue Linen Bed (look for less here) | Nightstands (look for less here) | Striped Sheets | Pick-Stitch Quilt | Euro Shams | Block Print Pillow Covers | Long Linen Lumbar Pillow | Lamps | Vase | Faux Snowball Viburnum | Rug | Bench | Coral Style Mirror | Artwork | Wall and Trim Color: Sherwin Williams Snowbound

This next picture is older from last summer, but it’s one of my favorite views into the space! The blue and white striped wallpaper in our bathroom is just so fun!

Here’s a look at the actual bathroom space. Since we sleep in what is technically a secondary bedroom (my office is the intended primary suite) we don’t get ready in this bathroom (since we have a bathroom with two sinks downstairs). Once we move, it will be nice to have an all-in-one space again!

BATHROOM SOURCES: Ceramic Hobnail Vase | Scalloped Tray | Scalloped Bath Jar | Scalloped Soap Dish | Sea Salt Lemon Bar Soap | Striped Wallpaper | Faux Viburnum Stems | Mirror | Sconces | Similar Bath Mat | Cabinet Hardware

I hope you enjoyed this little tour! I’ve already ordered a few things for our early fall bedding so I’m prepared once things start to cool off around here. Which may still be a few months yet!

Thank you so much! And hahah! Right? It’s not my favorite either. Unfortunately it’s pretty hard to find a non-custom builder that allows you to leave it off. I think they need to hide a lot with it from what I’ve seen 😉

Where is 30A located where you are building?

Hi! 30A is in the panhandle of Florida, about halfway between Destin and Panama City Beach. We’re located just north of Rosemary Beach and Alys Beach. We’ll be in the same neighborhood we currently live in – and actually only one street away!

I love the towel holder. Do you have a source? The whole room is soothing,

    Hi, Sarah
Just confirming, it’s always tempting to order the look for less option, I’m interested in the curtain rods. I’m pretty sure you have the PB option but was wondering if you have tried the ones from Amazon, and, if so, what your thoughts are?

    Thanks,
    Pat

Hi Pat! Great question! I do have the PB version and have not tried the Amazon version. I just had several people ask for a more affordable alternative on other posts so included that as an option. I LOVE the weight of PB window treatment hardware and their finishes, so I typically go that route!
