One Room Challenge: Dining Room Makeover Week 4

Decorating Ideas, Tips and Trends, Room Makeovers + Design Plans

Today marks week four of the One Room Challenge and we only have two weeks left before the big reveal! I spent the first half of the week in Chicago, so I’m running a bit behind this week. But, better late than never, right? If you’re new around here, be sure to check out Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 to get the backstory and prior room updates.

If you saw Tuesday’s post, I shared a sneak peek of the progress when I shared some Thanksgiving Entertaining inspiration. My blue, green and natural tablescape also gave a glimpse of our new chairs and table. I’m completely obsessed with both.

Unfortunately, my roman shades haven’t arrived, so we didn’t get to install them before today’s post. Hopefully they’ll arrive yet this week so I can share all the details on our new window coverings! The old drapes are down though, and I love the cleaner lines now that you can fully see the windows.

I ran to Nebraska Furniture Mart last week to check out buffet tables and cabinets. I found a few options, but nothing I was totally in love with or couldn’t walk away without. This first option was gorgeous, and was actually a closeout, so it was priced fairly well. My only concern is that it would be hard to gauge if the wood tones would look okay with our table. I’m also really wanting something with hidden storage on teh bottom half.

I thought this dresser/buffet table was another beautiful option. I love the hardware and the white finish. But at $1,800, it wasn’t really a contender.

I’m also a little hesitant to order something of this scale online, so my search continues. I did find this oak curio cabinet that I really love. I could probably add baskets on the lower levels for hidden storage.

This cabinet is also super pretty (and is the same brand as my table and chairs), but it is cost prohibitive. However, it does give you an idea of the look I want for the ‘hidden’ storage below for pool towels, etc. I also love the quatreoifl-like pattern that is reminicent of my beloved Riad fabric!

Something of this scale would be ideal, but again not in the budget.

I really don’t want to rush the buffet table/cabinet decision, so if it means I still have our old one for the end of the challenge, I’m okay with that. I want to pick the perfect piece for the room so I’m willing to wait it out!

This weekend I need to remove all the window covering fixtures, patch the holes and paint. Nothing major, but we have a short weekend before I leave town again. Lots left to do and not much time to do it, but I’m loving the progress so far! Be sure to check out all the other participants linking up their projects today!

Loving the chairs and table. You are wise to wait until you find just the right piece! Can’t wait to see the finished room!
