Urbane Bronze Board & Batten Home Office Makeover Reveal

Today I’m sharing our Sherwin Williams Urbane Bronze Board & Batten home office reveal! I’m including all the design details plus a list of sources for this office makeover!

This post has been a long time coming, and I decided it was just time to show you what I have completed so far on our stunning home office makeover. I can’t say that it is 100% at this point, but can I honestly say it likely ever will be? The end of this post has a full list of sources. Here is a quick shot of the space now before I get into everything that was changed.

This post contains affiliate links for your shopping convenience. Click here to read my full disclosure policy.

The French doors leading to the office.
Here is an updated photo to include a camera shot from our Spring 2015 Home Tour when the space was finally more decorated.
A home office with Sherwin Williams Urbane Bronze board and batten walls, a white wood desk, bead chandelier and large turquoise abstract art.

Let’s first look at this room in it’s former states. It’s surprising how many forms this room has taken on in the little over a year we have known it. Here was the room last October during one of our walkthroughs {with the prior homeowners belongings}:

Looking into the office from the hallway.
A small gray leather couch in the office.
A rocking chair by the window in the office.

And here was the state of the room shortly after we moved in. I was still using my IKEA Expedit for my desk and the original wall colors and window coverings remained from the prior homeowners.

A small wooden console with a TV on top of it.
Floral drapes in the office beside a small white desk.

I then freshened up the entire space with two coats of Behr Ultra’s Eggshell paint in the saturated color Castle Path. We also ordered plantation shutters for the street-facing window for some added privacy and then updated a free desk we got from my office at work.

Updating and painting the office.
Painting the wall in the office.
Looking at the foyer from the office.
A large window in the office beside the desk.
Feeling that the desk blended in a little too much, we rearranged furniture, added a customized grid pattern board and batten accent wall {painted Sherwin Williams Urbane Bronze}. I then painted the desk white with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in the color Old White. Plus I also installed drapes I made using Kravet Windsor Smith Riad in Clove.
Brown board and batten wall in our home office painted Sherwin Williams Urbane Bronze.
Walls painted Behr Castle Path and Sherwin Williams Urbane Bronze in a home office. Love this paint color combo!
A board and batten wall painted Sherwin Williams Urbane Bronze next to a wall painted Behr Castle Path that has trellis curtains.

And here is how the updated office looks today. You can see I veered from my original design board. I felt like things were taking too serious of a turn and I love the fun, bright vibrant colors mixed with all the soft neutrals. It feels like it has a California vibe to me, which I love. I’m sure I’ll continue to tweak it a little further, but I love the results so far!

Love the room! I am not a girly girl at all, but what about a crystal chandelier instead of the beaded one? Absolutely NOT a criticism! Just a thought. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!

Your office looks like such a serene and inspiring work place! We also painted our office Urbane Bronze, but it’s so funny how different amounts of light can make it look like a completely different color! I love the paneled wall design, and that artwork is fab!

    Sarah,
What an incredible re-do in your office. I’m visiting from Marty’s A Stroll Thru Life’s series Pulling It All Together, and you certainly have pulled it all together in both rooms I’ve visited so far…dining room and office.

Hi. I adore your home especially your office and courtyard. I have read a majority of your blog and you are a great inspiration for decorating. I have been going back and forth on the linen wingbacks from overstock. There are mixed reviews on the chair online. Could you please give me details on the actual feel of the linen as some people say the fabric is so rough, how comfortable the chair is, are the dimensions accurate, etc. I would greatly appreciate it.

They honestly aren’t the most comfortable chairs for lounging/watching TV etc. However, my husband usually sits in one in the weekends to chat while I’m on the computer and he doesn’t complain about comfort. I would just say they are more for sitting up straight if that makes sense? The fabric is certainly not super soft, but not much rougher than any linen – but it doesn’t make it comfortable to sit in. I know this sounds somewhat counter intuitive but hopefully that helps some! We haven’t ever regretted the purchase 🙂

Thank you so much! They were actually with the house when we bought it (I believe they were custom). I think I’ll be doing a post on them soon though, because I get so many questions. I’ll share a lot of pictures so maybe someone could replicate them for you!

I was wondering if you could give me the dimensions of your office opening, the stationary “doors” and then the sliding door size? I have a dining room that we are making into an office and I am having the hardest time finding doors and/or a door system that will work. I have reached out to a couple companies and all seem to be about $6-8 k to do. I am hoping that I can try my luck at lowes and order/instal myself (with the help of my dad). I believe your office door system will work!
    Thank you in advance,
    Felicity Brooks

Can you confirm which builder built your home? I’d like to find the doors. I have FINALLY convinced the hubby to let me have the formal living for my office. 🙂

We are actually the second owners of the home, so unfortunately I don’t know. But I believe the builder had them custom made!
