Here’s what’s been happening around here.
A few weekends ago we removed a few {dead} tree stumps.  And the husband dropped one on my head – tree and all {no, it wasn’t the tiny Japanese Maple out front – it was a 20′ maple out back}.  I may or may not have blacked out, but I claim my bravery and strength on really not knowing what exactly happened.  The husband seriously thought he was going to have to take me to the hospital when he heard it crack on my head.  Thankfully, it was just a minor wound so I could paint our front door {exterior} and stay out of the heat.

This weekend was such a great mix of everything.  Honestly, it was a perfect weekend.  Friday night started of with dinner for me and the husband at Johnny’s Steakhouse.  Coincidentally, we were seated next to one of his friends from work.  We sat outside on the patio and it was so enjoyable.  Such a perfect night outside.

Saturday, I started the morning off by painting the laundry room white {only the first coat – I still have to do a second}.  I bet you can’t guess what project I am working on next.  It is already SO much brighter in this room.  But I am still working on convincing the husband to replace the light and add crown molding.
That afternoon, we branched out of our comfort zone and worked at the Open Door Mission with members of our church.  We had signed up about a month or two back and really didn’t know what to expect.  This is honestly an amazing organization, which is all about breaking the cycle of poverty, and I really see us signing up quarterly.  This particular Saturday, our church hosted a barbecue for all of the men, women and children of the Lydia House and homeless center in Omaha.  After an incredible tour and serving food, we feel even more blessed with all the Lord has blessed us with and can’t wait to help serve at future events.  We had such a great time and we were so grateful to help serve those less fortunate!
Today after church, we did a few chores and then headed to sushi with my husband’s sister and brother-in-law.   It is so unlike us to go out on a Sunday, but can I just tell you, this was SUCH a fun afternoon!  After a great sushi lunch, we headed to Sheridan’s for concretes and then to Twin Peaks to see what all the buzz was about.  We have so much fun and probably don’t share more laughs than we do when we are with these guys.  Such a great day!  We wrapped it up with a nap for the husband and me laying out in the sun.
Could you really possibly ask for a better weekend?!?
