Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Holiday Collection Details & Fit Guide
I’m still in full-blown fall mode around here, given that I’ve just barely accepted that summer is over. But, today marks the launch of the Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Holiday Collection launch exclusively online at Nordstrom, and I’m basically freaking out with excitement to share the collection with you! Cassie and I have been friends for years, and I’m so appreciative that she gives me a sneak peek at her collections. Especially since I feel like like they just keep getting better and better!
So, today I’m stepping outside of fall mode to share with you tons of plaid, velvet, sequins, and satin. Everything great about holiday clothes! I think many of these pieces will sell out quickly so I wanted to share the collection on launch day to give you as early of access as possible. Then it will be back to fall content again for at least a few more weeks 🙂 After each series of photos below, I’ve also provided all the decor sources as well!
Everything in the Gibson x Hi Sugarplum Holiday Collection is designed to be mixed and matched so they’re all extremely versatile. I also love that they now offer petite (down to XXSP) and extended sizing (up to 3X) so that the regular sizes work so much better for the taller gals like me! Each and every piece will be perfect for holiday family photos, parties, girls’ night out, and so much more.
FIT TIP: I ordered my regular size ‘Large’ in every piece shown today. I found them all to fit fairly true to size and any exceptions will be noted along the way! I love that each and every one of these pieces in this outfit can be mixed and matched with other items in the collection or pieces I already have in my closet!
FESTIVE VELVET BLAZER, SATIN TOP & PLAID SKIRT COMBO
Not only is the front of the satin top adorable with the gathered neckline, but the back has the cutest bow detail! And the skirt? It has pockets! I wore a regular bra with this top, but you can tight the bow and cinch the collar as much as you want (which may require a racerback). I found the skirt to fit true to size, but if you’re bigger in the middle section, you may want to order up one size. The waistband is very fitted (with no stretch) to give you that great A-line silhoutte. The skirt also comes in two pretty jacquard options!
I think this look is so perfect for Christmas Eve church service, family photos, and holiday parties and dinners! And each piece can be worn separately with other items your closet to totally change up the look!
SATIN TOP & WIDE LEG PANTS
The next look turned is one of my favorites for nearly all things holiday related! My expectations weren’t that high for these high-waist wide-leg pants, but they turned out to be one of my favorite pieces in the entire collection! Even at 5’8″, I can still wear them with tall heels! And the best part? The stretchy satin waistband that is very forgiving if you over-indulge a bit.
Because they are longer, they are definitely leg-lengthening, which is so great for this wide-leg style. Comfy, flattering and a great polished look for dinner, holiday concerts and parties! They also look great with the velvet blazer for a holiday suit spin! I love the simple satin band at the waist!
And can you even get over the black satin bow in the back of this top?! It’s the same style as the red top I shared above, and also comes in a black version as well as an animal print. And you all know I’m a sucker for any sort of gathered or pleated collar! This top would also look great with an updo to really show off all the unique features! And PS – there’s a good chance I’ll be wearing these starburst earrings the entire month of December (they’re also available here)!
The skirt fabric also comes in this darling dress (also available in other fabrics)! I love it so much, but because I have such a long torso, the waistline sat a bit too high on me. Which also mean I couldn’t zip my size Large in the right spot (since the waist is intended to be fitted and it fell too high on me) even though it fit great on top. If you have a really long torso like me, you may need to size up or skip this one altogether! Which makes me want to cry!
The cap-sleeve details on the dress are so perfect – and I love the subtle gold thread weave throughout the pattern! The material is structured and heavy, making it very forgiving.
And, if you wonder how I look in most of my pictures, here you go. This whole modeling clothing thing is all still very awkward for me!
CASUAL FESTIVE LOOK
This last look is a casual way to wear some of these items. I also think it would be a really cute New Year’s Eve look! The sequined top also comes in black (and velvet options) and has a cute scoopback neck! Like most other pieces in the collection, I love it paired with the velvet blazer! The top fits true to size, but it’s definitely a clingier fit and material, so for a less body-con look, you may want to size up one if you’re between sizes.
I just can’t get over this black and champagne color combo! Such a great way to look festive if you don’t love wearing traditional holiday colors or prints! I think this dress would also be another gorgeous New Year’s Eve or party dress!
