Coffee Table Turned Bench

I took a coffee table from the Goodwill and gave it a total makeover, see the results!

I finally wrapped this project up today. Remember this outdated Goodwill coffee table that I planned to redo a while back? It had a great shape but was really beat up and the top was in major need of refinishing:

A dark wooden coffee table before the update. Here is the final result. I think it turned out really cute and I love how the distressing of the wood turned out {although, let me tell you, its a little stressful taking sandpaper to a perfectly good paint job}! There are some obvious flaws due to the fact I kind of made up what I was doing along the way, but I am still happy with the final outcome. I spray painted the coffee table soothing white {minus the top since it was going to be covered}.  Then I distressed all the edges, found some new hardware and made buttons for the first time {securing them to the bench was the hardest part }. I then found fabric with a cool print {it was also difficult to get the edges to look right on this – I still have a little bunching on mine}. It really was a pretty quick project over all, I was just procrastinating at several stages.

The white table with a brown and white cushion on the top.

The silver pulls on the updated coffee table. The side view of the white coffee table with the brown and white cushion.

The patterned brown and white coffee table fabric top.

The painted white legs of the table.

My new best friends for painting projects – Rustoleum High Performance Enamel (seriously, you would never know this was spray paint once it goes on) and the little trigger gun thing that Rustoleum also makes. This thing will seriously save your poor index finger and sprays much more evenly than you are able to do on your own.

I hope you enjoyed this DIY coffee table turned bench project!
