Christmas Home Tour: Part II

Christmas, Home Tour

Today I’m sharing part two of my Christmas home tour this year {if you missed Part I, you can check it out here}! You’ll see some new spaces and images on the tour with a little bit of overlap from the tour last week. However, there are a lot of new shots I haven’t shown yet, so get comfortable and take a little tour with me!

If you followed along any of my home tours last year {Part I and Part II}, you saw that I only used the traditional red and green Christmas colors in the dining room – and used shades of blue and metallics everywhere else. This year, I was the exact opposite and went with red and green everywhere other than in the office, where I kept the blue and greens going.

If you’re interested in seeing the more neutral, everyday side of our home, you can check out this past summer’s home tour.

Welcome to our home! When you first enter, you can see I hung some greenery over the chair and created a brushstroke plaid and velvet pillow to sit on top of the chair. I’ll be sharing more on this project later in the week, but I love the watercolor-like effect! Oh, and let’s all pretend we don’t see the command strip holding the garland in the first photo. I actually had  greenery to use to cover it but didn’t realize until I was editing photos {late last night} that it wasn’t there. Just squint and maybe you won’t see it!

Red, white and green plaid entryway with garland swag and Hunter boots with greenery.

Chandelier / Rug {it’s reversible – I use the light side up} / Sunburst Mirror is from Home Depot / Chair / Boot Tray

On the other side of the entry, I didn’t make a ton of other changes, but I did update the throw pillow in the basket {a pillow cover I made last year from a HomeGoods tablecloth}. I also added some cableknit boot socks to my Hunter boots and stuffed them with some greenery and pine cones. Not traditional, I know, but I love it! And yes, I moved the boots around for various shots.

Walking down the hallway to the main living area, I hung some LED light wreaths from HomeGoods on the sliding doors with burlap wired ribbon. I also hung my Doxology canvas over the bench and added our nativity scene {from Hobby Lobby} on the hallway table along with a O Holy Night print.

As you come down the hallway, you enter our living room.

In the living room, there is an explosion of deer and plaid, and I totally love it.

The plaid flannel pillows were HomeGoods scores this year {they are Ralph Lauren brand for those interested}. The Christmas Card Holder was a recent DIY and looks perfect next to my beloved ‘O Holy Night’ canvas. I used this boxwood wreath on the display. The red velvet pillow covers are cheapies from IKEA and the large brown velvet covers came with our couch. The lamps are the Boda Table Lamps from Kenroy Home.

Moving on to the kitchen, I really did nothing other than add a boxwood wreath over the range {like last year}. Although hopefully on next year’s tour, we’ll be looking at some lighter and brighter backsplash! I also added a bread crate filled with faux greenery on the island countertop. It sure looks pretty with the mantle lights and fireplace glowing in the background at night!

In the dining room, I kept things fairly simple. Since we won’t be at our house over Christmas, I didn’t mess with a fancy tablescape. I kept things simple with a plaid runner, a large wood tray, greenery and some glass ornaments. You’ll notice I also pulled an old rug that we used at our last house out of storage – it works perfectly for Christmas time! It was from Pottery Barn a few years ago. The antlers, Lindsay Letters ‘Come Thou Font’ art and gold urchin are all from Hobby Lobby this season. The boxwood on the mirror is from One Kings Lane.

I am in love with my gold bar cart, and this year, in addition to housing all the “essentials”, I added a few fun elements. The glass canister is filled with green moss and a variety of red ornaments. I filled my cork vase with these gorgeous LED branches with pinecones {I am using two sets}. I also threw in some red striped straws and white gold polka dot coasters are from Lulu & Georgia. The silver mirrored star ornament and large wire basket are from HomeGoods, the red velvet pillow is also an IKEA pillow cover and the faux fox throw is from Restoration Hardware.

On a whim, I decided to dress up our unfinished mudroom as well. We finally hung hooks last weekend so the room is at least semi-functional again. Our winter gear got me in the mood to add a few Christmas touches even if the planks have only been primed and still need paint, the walls have painters tape on them, the trim and bench are all still very off-white, etc. I like to think of the decorations as a little holiday camouflage – even if it is just the leftover decor I didn’t use in other rooms 😉

In the powder bath {tied with the mudroom for worst room to try and photograph}, I hung a similar print from ‘Oh My Deer‘ and added some greenery to the vase {same style, smaller size vase found here}. The mirror is from HomeGoods.  I love the new reflection in the powder room now that our mudroom is getting a little closer to being complete!

In our master bedroom, I kept things fairly simple by adding a wreath over the bed {you can find the tutorial for my Winter Wreath for Clearance Garland here}. A fur throw at the end of the bed also helps to add some texture and warmth on those cold Nebraska nights!

Lastly, we come into my office. The space is off to the right of the entryway when you walk in the front door. The furniture is a bit tight currently {I placed our tree between the two linen chairs we have in the room} but I love the coziness the glow from the tree brings to the space and I love that our tree can be seen from the street! Other than the tree, I didn’t do any additional decorating in this room. For me, the glowing lights complete it! And because it always comes up when I show a picture of my office, I made the curtains using Windsor Smith’s Riad in Kravet {I currently have some for sale in my fabric store if you’re interested}. The chandelier and art are both DIY projects. The blue wing chair, glass bottles and lamp are all from HomeGoods.

I think my favorites are the simple wreath in the master bedroom and your framed Christmas card display. Thanks also for sharing info about the tour – all of your ladies are so talented! Cheers.

Unbelievably gorgeous my friend!! I love every inch of it. The crisp red everywhere is totally making my heart skip a beat. Many times over. I better take it easy so I don’t develop a heart problem. We switched roles- my Christmas tour is way more neutral than my summer tour… and yours is the opposite. You have such a talent, Sarah. Every time I take your home tours I am in awe of it. I would love to create your crisp elegant (almost Hamptons-esque??) style…if our house wasn’t already so darn cottagey. Well, I guess it is a lake cottage, so it kinda suits cottagey; but still. Your tour makes me want to move to an urban center instead. (Plus, then I could actually shop somewhere besides Walmart). Okay enough of the novel- obviously pinning this and sharing it on my FB page.
