Basement Project

Take a peek at our basement project.

Over the holiday weekend, my parents were in town and they helped on several things around the new house. While my mom and I unpacked the kitchen and various other items, the guys worked on a basement project. It was exciting for us {although most likely not anyone else} and was the most necessary item we needed completed.

The basement before:

Basement with walls down to the studs of the wood, and concrete floor.

Unfortunately, it was all studded before the prior owners left, but there are no doors anywhere which presented a huge problem for us and the cats. The goal was to simply block access to the storage room and to make the fifth unfinished bedroom an area for the cats if we ever needed to lock them up.  The guys did a great job and were able to complete part of the basement this Friday afternoon.  A huge relief!

Putting up the drywall in the basement and the doors.

And lastly, a quick sneak peak at the paint in the dining room {still wet in this photo}.  This is how I spent my Christmas day. For some reason, this one coat took me longer than any room I have ever painted – over a four hour project! But I love the new look – Restoration Hardware’s Slate {used in our last laundry room}.

The light green paint in the dining room and a look down the neutral hallway.

I should have everything finished {including the curtains hung} next weekend.  Stay tuned!
