Not only that, the fabulous Abby from Abby M Interiors will be joining us for this challenge! I’m pretty sure the entire universe knows her now, if they didn’t before, after her amazing bathroom makeover in the last One Room Challenge.
So, are you finally ready to see the space I plan to use my Lamps Plus gear in?! I’m keepin’ it real here so no judging – although this is REALLY clean for this room. Everything hanging on the wall is literally hung on a nail the prior home owners left behind and I hung it up so it wasn’t cluttering the floor. Talk about a design plan! And that sheet metal glued to the walls by the prior owners? May prove to be a major problem.
The closet:
Wow. See what I mean? LOTS of work to do. Even the most amazing light fixture can’t save this space. I technically call it my craft room for blog purposes, but let’s be honest. It is my junk room / fabric room / sewing room / workout room / movie room / lamp graveyard / where-I-store-things-I-can’t-find-a-place-for-otherwise-room. Please tell me you all have a space like this?!?
If you follow me on Instagram, you recently saw I tore everything out of the junk-whore Expedit. It literally took hours. I’m convinced that everything I didn’t know what to do with once we moved was in the Expedit. Case in point: this box.
Insurance planning book. Film. Ugg waterproofing kit. Thank You cards. Restoration Hardware fabric samples. Fabric remnants. A Kate Spade dust cover. Two Coach wristlets. A Canon lens box. I can totally see the correlation among these items and why I decided to put them in the same box…. Moving on!
In my post on Wednesday, I shared the home that will be inspiring this room remodel. If I can make it look half as amazing as any room in that house, I will consider it a success.
Here’s my inspiration picture with my world-renowned Photoshop skills included. Get your pinning fingers ready:
My goal is to make the space much less junk room and much more functional {and inviting}. I will still have a small desk to house my sewing machine in the corner you can’t see and I will now have a comfy place to watch movies {although I’ve decided against the chaise in the image above}. We are keeping the floor space clear because this is also the room we workout in during the random months we get the urge to do so 😉
I originally thought of trying to DIY the art, but figured at $10 a pop, it would be loads easier to order the originals from Sarah Swanson Design. The walls will actually be a much lighter gray {or maybe even pale blue?} but my first-class Photoshop skills don’t allow me to lighten the walls very well.
I also have several of the items ordered and I hope to get a paint color selected soon so I can begin painting ASAP. I have a black and white striped rug from PB Teen leftover from our last dining room, so I may just throw it in the mix to cover the ugly, buckling carpet.
For the TV stand, I plan to use the leftover buffet table from our last house {the other one is in our upstairs hallway housing our Wi-Fi components}.
Bottom-line: I have TONS of work to get done in the next 21 days! The full reveal will be Friday, June 27th. I can’t wait to see what the other ladies have in store as well!
Lastly, don’t forget to enter the two giveaways I still have open {Holly & Martin furniture console table and TIKI Brand summer kit}! The furniture giveaway ends Sunday night. And be sure to check in next week for a week of all things summer. Have a great weekend!

I’m right there with you. I have a room in my house that just doesn’t make me happy and I’m slowly forming a plan to make it my own. Good luck, can’t wait to see the end result! 🙂
