Room Makeovers + Design Plans

I have been hard at work the last few months working on our bonus room, living room and kitchen areas at to finalize decorating them.  I have tried to spare you all the progress along the way {and I have let some things sit around so I could ensure I REALLY liked them}, but I think I am at a point to give you a few previews of how things are turning out.

To go a little lighter for spring, I sewed some new pillow covers yesterday {I will likely still use these in the fall}.  I have had the fabric for some time but finally got around to doing the work yesterday.  Its amazing that after having made so many pillows, I still manage to sew one inside out every time, hence causing the project to take MUCH longer as I unpick all the stitching.  Tutorial here {although I made these 23×23 so they weren’t quite as tight}.  The chevron fabric and the DwellStudio shown below in the bonus room were both purchased from Fabric.com.  They have excellent prices and you can usually always get extra discounts and free shipping.

The chevron pattern looks much more exaggerated head-on.  However, from the side, it looks like a solid fabric.  I showed a close-up to show you the heaviness and the texture of the fabric.  I think it will be a great backdrop for the Riad pillows.  I have to say I am a little nervous to cut into that yardage.  The colors in the room will feel beachy {aqua, green, sand, etc.} without actually being beachy.  Almost all accessories are from TJ Maxx or Marshall’s.  You can’t beat their prices!

Yes, I still have to take all the stickers off of these 🙂
And here’s a little sneak peak of the bonus room changes.  Don’t worry – I hung the print straight {one of my favorites ever, by the way} – my monitor just sits a little crooked {trust me, I had to pull out the level several times to prove it to myself}.  I love that the pattern on the DwellStudio fabric mimics the pattern in the light I had bought from Overstock.  I still have to finish the curtains and accessorize the room, but it is turning out great!
Lastly, I found this little rug at Marshall’s and LOVE it.  Too bad it is about 1/2″ to wide, and I am not sure I love it turned the other way.  Since we still haven’t actually attached the quarter-round to the trim, I may move it so the rug can fit 🙂 Clearly it hasn’t been vacuumed since I got it home, but you can see the great colors and texture.  It is just the splash of color our colorless entryway needs and with the black background, I won’t have to worry so much about dirt!
