As I imagine is the case in most towns across the country, the last few years of our Street of Dreams {similar to Parade of Homes in other states} has just been okay. Uninspired, little decorating, etc. which was a necessity due to the state of the economy. However, this year’s was the best I can remember in a long time. Omaha is not known as a trendsetter, and in fact, trends tend to lag several years behind. I was beyond ecstatic at this year’s show. Only two or three {of the eight} houses were ones I truly loved, but I loved the fact that there were so many styles and I could appreciate the design put into each and every one {of almost} all of them. I wish I were kidding when I say that if we had an extra $200k lying around for a down payment, we would have bought house #7 in a heart beat. But that house has earned its own post.
Here are some features I liked of several of the other homes. I also love seeing other bloggers’ tours of their own versions in their area because I love to see what you can get for your money in other cities and states. The photos are not great in any of the homes {I had to use a flash and quickly take photos whenever there weren’t people directly in my path}.
House #1 – Built by Nathan Homes {we have liked other homes by this builder in the past as well}
Price: $595,000
Total Finished Sq. Feet: 4,483 – Ranch
This home was more contemporary that our style, but we have seen a similar floor plan by this builder and it always seems to flow very well.
I know this may be a short-lived trend, but this particular deer head was darling in this girls room. I loved it paired with the branch lamp.
I loved the mini subway tile detail above the sink.
The house had an amazing deck off the dining area. It also had retractable screen “walls” which I loved. You could essentially close off the room with the surrounding screen to keep bugs out but still be fully outside.
House #2 was uninspired to me and had a very clunky floor plan. No photos.
House #3 – R&A Builders
Price: $780,000
Total Finished Sq. Feet: 6,418 – Ranch
This home technically did not allow photography so I had to be stealth-like. There were some very cool features and I was literally obsessed with the lighting selection in each and every room. I just wish I could have taken more photos. The upstairs was light, airy, and glam. The basement felt like a true manland to me – a little too dark for my liking.
I have been trying to convince my husband we need this orb light above our dining table {in a smaller size}. I have been obsessed with it for some time. It fit perfectly in this glam house. Notice the covered outdoor living room complete with TV. The kitchen off to the right {not pictured} was also one of my favorites of the show.
The master bath was gorgeous. The shower was a walk-in filled with sunlight {it wraps around behind the tub}.
I also loved this chandelier in the master closet. The carpet was pretty amazing in the closet – perfect for this glam house.
House #4 – Malibu Homes {same builder as home #2}
Price: $875,000
Total Finished Sq. Feet: 7,159 – 1.5 Story
This house wasn’t my style either, but they did a nice job with it. I believe it had just sold the week before – it would be an amazing house for entertaining.
I liked the idea of the full length mirror next to each of the vanities in the master bathroom.
This is a bad picture, but this sunken bar in the basement was amazing. It literally felt like you were at fancy sports bar – it was HUGE.
Loved this built in sauna off of their gym. It looks tiny, but it is actually built-in behind the wall.
House #5 – Built by Widhalm Custom Homes
Price: $749,000
Total Finished Sq. Feet: 5,700 – 2 Story
This home felt very Seattle-ish to me. They did an amazing job with the overall look and feel. Very Frank-Lloyd-Wright-ish but with a more transitional upgrade look.
I loved this Jack & Jill bath. The window look out onto the front covered deck off the bedroom on the left. The flooring was very unique as well – it literally felt like linen underfoot, but I almost wonder if they had some flooring down with a grasscloth type mat covered to fit.
I loved the shape of this master bath layout. It just glowed and reflected with all the mirrored surfaces.
Not a fan of this look, but I loved the bar area behind the seating in the basement. Great for football parties where the men want to stand around and watch/talk/drink.
House #6 – Renaissance Custom Homes
Price: $795,000
Total Finished Sq. Feet: 3,700 {basement was unfinished} – 1.5 Story
I’m actually disappointed I didn’t take more photos of this home. At first I wasn’t sold. It is a true English Country style home and they did an amazing job of not making it feel theme-y but rather very authentic. This was my husband’s favorite home by far {until he saw #7} – he is a big fan of dark paneling.
The only photos I took were in the master bathroom. I loved the ‘woman’s’ side of the bathroom – it was a great use of space. I also loved the idea of a coffee pot in the bathroom {we saw this in several areas} where it has its own space without cluttering up precious counter space.
House #7, affectionately called “My Next Home” will have a post devoted solely to it.
House #8 – Built by ADC – Advanced Design & Construction
Price: $777,900
Total Finished Sq. Feet: 5,797 – 2 Story
This was another ‘no photography allowed’ home, I believe because it was already sold and designed specifically for a family. The style was not my favorite. But I thought this cute kids room on the top floor was unique. The counter top was made of pennies and the wall had a built-in corkboard wrap around. They also had an amazing pool out back {which I did not get a photo of}.
My husband laughs at my giddiness when I walk through well-designed homes. He asked me if it is the equivalent for his fantasy-football draft day. I told him it was better.
