I left for Tampa yesterday for a business trip and from there will fly to Vegas later this week for another meeting. But, after that, I am done with travel for the foreseeable future. Which for me, always marks the start of spring {and also the return of my DIY season}!
Over the weekend, I slowly started adding some touches of spring to our decor for an upcoming spring home tour I’m doing. I found these fern-like sprigs at Hobby Lobby last week {I believe they were $3.99 each but then half off}. It may sound ridiculous, but simply by adding this color and texture to the dining room I think I know the direction I want to take with the textiles for the roman shades and throw pillows.
I also added a shot of green to the entryway. And although the space still needs to be properly styled {and I really need to pull a taller vase into the space}, the addition of the green makes me so much happier! This greenery was also from Hobby Lobby {same price as above}.
I picked up this turquoise Otomi runner and colorful Otomi placemats {that I plan to make into pillows for the head chairs in the dining room}. It was my main mission, while in Mexico, to find some Otomi something once we arrived at The Resort at Pedregal and I saw the gorgeous handiwork on the pillows in the main reception area and in one of the bars. Although they are much more colorful than my typical style, I think they will be perfect for those summer parties that I never seem to host 😉 My husband says he expects a taco/margarita night this summer after this little investment.
I think the bright colors in the Otomi are just another sign that I am so ready for spring’s arrival!
