Good morning! I hope you all had a nice weekend! Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to over the past week or so.

Home Projects & Updates
I mostly wrapped up my fall decorating last week and now just have to photograph the last few spaces. I’m hoping to share my fall home tour next week! One spot I had to tackle still was our loft living room. Here’s a quick iPhone snap of the progress. Who says palm fronds don’t translate into fall? I’m loving these dried palms in this spot – the color is so pretty. I actually bought these reversible plaid/stripe pillow covers for my Christmas decor but love them every bit as much for fall! You can’t beat a $16 cover (also comes in neutral) that has two separate looks! The scalloped wooden bowl is filled with seashells I’ve collected from the beach!

My mom arrives in two weeks to help me with Christmas decor! I’m really looking forward to it! With that, I have a checklist of everything I need to order to ensure it arrives in time. I found these cute pre-tied velvet bows with twist ties that will definitely save time. They come in a bunch of colors (I also ordered red) and do arrive a little smashed, but they’re going to work great. I also found these gorgeous velvet ornaments. I was really impressed with them and love the subdued colors they offer. They’re a bit more blue than this pic shows – the stock photo is a really good representation of the true color.
The weather has been absolutely stunning the past several days, with low humidity, overnight lows in the 50’s and 60’s and day temps in the upper 70’s/low 80’s. It’s like the perfect mix of seasons! We had dinner out on our covered porch one night and realized just how badly it needed a good power wash. Kurtis was able to clean it on Sunday and it looks so much better! When it’s all dirty, you sometimes don’t really know just how bad it is! You can see a clean (but still wet) cushion below on the right and the dirty ones on the left. Yikes!
In Case You Missed It
Following are the posts I shared over the past week, in case you missed some days!
Around Town & For Fun
On Monday, while I was writing last week’s Weekend Recap actually, I heard a commotion on our porch and peeked out the window at my desk. Turns out it was Rachel cleaning all the bugs and cobwebs off our porch. Ha! She got this new tool and loved it so much she walked over and did ours as well. Hired!
I came back to Hawkeye wondering what the heck was going on. He’s so freaking cute! But this pic reminds me that we really need to have our entire house power-washed.
Our new neighbor (and fellow Omaha transplant) Katie invited me and Rachel out for happy hour one night. We went to Amici and stayed chatting well past our meal being finished! It was such an enjoyable evening.
Our hearts and prayers were with all the people affected by Hurricane Milton last week, and all those still dealing with the devastation of Hurricane Helene. I volunteered with the students at Acton Academy 30A to gather supplies for hurricane victims and at local Walmart. We had a table set up, and the kids would share the supply lists with shoppers. We were able to get four carloads full of supplies and we really appreciate all the generous folks in our community that contributed! This is the only picture I have from the event, taken by one of the other chaperones. Rachel was also there and multiple people asked if we were sisters. Ha! We actually don’t look much alike, but we were dressed similarly that day, so maybe that was it.
I always love peaceful evenings on our street. If you look closely below, you can see a deer feeding.
Friday night, most of the gang was back together and we had dinner at Amigo’s followed by time outside in the green space. There was a drone light show going on in Alys Beach that we could faintly see, so I was really intrigued by that!
We had a Starbucks open at the entrance of our neighborhood. 30A doesn’t really allow chains so it was a bit of a surprise. We stopped in early one morning and it inspired me to make my own egg bites at home. I found a recipe online (I’ll post the screenshot of what I saw on Facebook below) and then ordered these silicone molds (we use the full muffin size) and have been enjoying the batch I made! We store them in our fridge and then just reheat when we want one. You can see below they’re super fluffy when you take them straight out of the oven, but then shrink up a bit as they cool. We made ours with Canadian bacon, green peppers, and scallions but you could really use whatever. We mixed the eggs and cheese and poured that in the molds and then dropped in our finely chopped meat/veggies. These egg bites great for busy mornings!
Sunday after some chores around the house, we headed to the beach for a few hours. We had lunch and then Chris and Rachel joined us for a bit. Kurtis, Rachel and I walked the waterline for a while, and despite how busy it was from fall break, it was still so peaceful!
These seagulls looked like they were bracing for winter! We also came across this washed up palm tree that has been on this beach for as long as I can remember. It’s interesting how sometimes you see the entire tree and other times just the roots. With the hurricanes lately, the sand and sand bars have shifted quite a bit! The tree was very much buried again yesterday.
Not only did Rachel and Kurtis see a jumping ray (I was turned facing them so missed it) but they both also found oyster shells when I asked them to help me find seashells! I had never seen an oyster shell on our beaches before so it was pretty crazy to find two! I’m excited to add them to my collection.
After the beach, Kurtis and I hopped in our golf cart. Our neighborhood holds a free event called PorchFest every year. They have several bands setup throughout our neighborhood, including on a few porches. We were a bit late to the festivities so mostly just drove around to check out the action since we’ve never attended in the past. Definitely need to make a point of attending next year. October seems to be when the locals thrive around here!
It’s definitely starting to feel more and more like fall around here!
Outside of my mom coming in two weeks to help me decorate, we don’t have any guests the rest of the year. Neither of us travel again, either, until Thanksgiving. So, we’re really looking forward to embracing the beautiful weather and all that fall on 30A offers!
