Home Projects & Updates
I got the back cabana cleaned up, washed and styled a tiny bit last week. We have these patterned reversible pillows on our back porch, and I loved them so much I bought them for the chairs here, as well!

I ordered two of these cute footed flower pots to flank the stairs on our front porch. They arrived quickly and are so pretty in person. I need to go plant shopping this week to get them fully up and running!
We toured several more potential properties this past week, and drumroll please….
We are officially under contract on a short-term rental property down here! For those that missed it, Kurtis and I decided to sell one of our rental properties in Omaha and use the funds to purchase another property down here. After about a month of searching (and a few offers that didn’t work out), we’re officially under contract and hope to close by mid-June! Side note: if you’re a close friend or relative reading this, don’t be mad we haven’t told you yet. We’ve been out of town basically the whole time since. I promise we’ll send you the details 😉
I’ll share more details soon (as well as some of my design boards once I work on them), but it’s actually the first property we looked at several weeks back. The property is in really great shape (it’s never been rented previously), so initially we’ll just be updating the furniture and lighting to reflect a more coastal style. I also have to find items that are quick ship and can be here in less than three weeks. Lots of fun projects ahead! We’re really hoping to get the rental listing up as soon as we close so that it will be available as early as 4th of July weekend!
Thankfully we have a really great furniture resale market here too, with all the rentals and staged homes. So, I’m guessing I’ll be able to find a handful of items that way (and get most of the current furniture sold). I’ll keep you posted!

Around Town & For Fun
It was a busy week last week with multiple house showings, countertop shopping (again) and prepping to leave town for the weekend.
At one of the showings last week, Rachel and I showed up in the same sandals. Funny enough, Kurtis and I had been looking at countertops just prior to that and I was asked about them because the gal loved them so much! They are super comfy (memory foam footbed) and fit true to size. They don’t have half sizes right now, so I’d probably size up if you’re between. I’ve worn them every day since I got them!
Our friends Jake and Marissa are officially moving this week to a house even closer to us! We had an impromptu happy hour at their new house on Thursday night to check out the newly-installed floors. So excited for their move and to have them closer! This little cutie is so chill and always a joy to have around.
Henley continues to enjoy being outside every second of the day. She’s now finally realized that some of the furniture is comfier than the dining chairs. Every time I catch her snoozing on the sofa or armchairs though, she pops up and wants me to join her 😉

We hit the road Friday morning for a friend’s 60th birthday party near Orlando. It’s about a five and a half hour drive for us, but Kurtis agreed to a little detour east to hit the Serena & Lily outlet in Daytona.
They had a ton of everything in stock. After about an hour of looking around though, I only came home with a tablecloth. Probably not worth the extra 1.5 hours of drive time, but at least I know now! They only had additional discounts on lighting that particular day, so I found a lot of the other prices to be rather high (especially when online sales can be decent). If you’re in the area, I’d definitely check it out! But unless you know there are additional markdowns that day, it may not be worth a super long drive. If prices were better (which I’m guessing they will be this weekend) I would have seriously considered renting a UHaul trailer to take it all home to furnish the new rental property!
We headed southwest from there, and stayed at Bella Collina which was near the party. We had a really pretty breakfast on property and it was fun to embrace the whole Italian theme they have going on there.
The party was most of the day Saturday, with some fun activities planned early afternoon. The party then included dinner and dancing. Our friends have a really special property, and it was so fun for me to finally see it in person.
Lots of items to wrap up this week for our offer/loan/inspection, etc. But I’m really excited to get started on the design process! We need things here essentially as we close on the property in less than three weeks, so I plan to wrap up the designs and get things ordered ASAP! Stay tuned!

Sorry, you were nowhere near Orlando. I live here and Montverde is an hour away. It used to be beautiful country now just overrun with tourists. It always cracks me up when someone says they coming to Orlando and they go to Winter Garden. It used to be orange groves. Hope you had a great time in NOT Orlando!
