Weekend Plans

I love long weekends. Especially long weekends that signify the kick-off of summer! I have a long list of items to get done this weekend – some necessary and some I am just hoping to get to – and I am anxious to get started.

  • Paint the window trim in the office and our master bedroom. About a month ago, we moved forward with ordering the shutters for the office and our bedroom {but opted to not do any others at this time}. With that being said, I ordered white shutters so the cream trim has to be updated before the shutters are installed. They should be arriving shortly!
  • Paint the office. With the above being said, I think I may paint the office in the Castle Path paint until I am able to move on with my Office Inspiration Board. The room just feels off to me right now with the dark brown wall, and it is the first room you see when you walk in the house. I am still on the hunt for a desk, but still haven’t found anything I love.
  • Plant remaining plants. Last weekend when we were working on our courtyard makeover, we bought several other plants, including a burning bush, lilac bush, some ornamental grass, columbine, and much more. I got about half of it planted before the thunderstorms started. I need to get these out of the garage and into the dirt! Last weekend I did manage to update the planter on our front porch with one of the tall spiky plants too. I swear all of my planters have already grown quite a bit since they were planted!
  • Clean out closet. With the start of a new season, I need go through my clothes and make a run to Goodwill. I always find this time of year best to purge, because it is easier to remember what items you didn’t wear the prior season – if it wasn’t worn, give it to someone who can use it.
  • Clean the garage. In Nebraska, they use a ton of sand on the roads during the winter, and over the winter months, a ton accumulates on the garage floor. I need to sweep it out and do some minor cleaning so we don’t continue to track the dust in the house.
  • Get items listed on Craig’s List. With all the lighting changes around here, the pile of lights not being used is growing rapidly. The most awkward of all to store is the ceiling fan. I need to get these items posted and sold.
  • Guest bedroom updates. I am very close to wrapping up our guest bedroom updates, so hopefully I’ll have time to search the internet for an affordable, stylish headboard. Hoping for some Memorial Day discounts!
One thing I will NOT be doing this weekend? Painting the entryway table. The day I posted that, I had found the one store in Omaha that carried Annie Sloane chalk paint and was planning on picking up some at lunchtime. But, based on your feedback I am going to hold off, style the table and see if it bothers me as much then. I’m sure you’re all right that it will look great as is – so I appreciate the feedback!
I hope you all have an amazing holiday weekend! Yay for summer!
