the wallpaper alternative

I have come up with an alternative to wallpapering, such as stencilling!

Remember clear back when I was swooning over wallpaper?  Well I still have the wallpaper bug and seriously want to use it in our main bathroom.  But the husband says no way.  And, agreeing with the fact that I do tend to redecorate often, I don’t want to deal with the mess of putting it up or tearing it down.  So, I am considering painting with stencils to achieve the wallpaper effect without the messy application and teardown.

A living room with a fireplace, a wall feature above the fireplace with antlers on a stencilled wall.

Some cute stencil options are found at WhitewallCo and the Etsy shop Cutting Edge Stencils.  Probably a much easier sell to the husband and an easier working solution for me!

Cutting Edge’s Trellis, Hourglass and Acacia are three of my favorite stencils {I could obviously modify the colors any way I wanted to}.

A brown and cream geometric stencil.
A green geometric shaped stencil.
A brown stencil that looks like leaves above a neutral couch.

These are also an excellent alternative to the vinyl rub-ons you see everywhere.

Also loving some from StencilEase including these:

A mustard coloured stencilled wall with a wooden side table and a wreath on the wall.
Iron Lattice
A herringbone white rug with a striped armchair and a red pillow.
Herringbone Wall & Floor Stencil
A deep red and Burgundy stencilled wall in a bathroom.
Moroccan Wall & Floor Stencil

It may be a fun project to try this winter or fall!
