The Courtyard: It’s Alive!

Landscaping and Outdoor Spaces

The other “project” we wrapped up last weekend was finally finding and assembling a patio set for our courtyard. I mentioned here what I was looking for so we first headed to Home Depot. I really liked the Hampton Bay Barnsley Set, however, the chairs were awkward if you leaned forward {they leaned forward almost too far, feeling like you were about to be ejected}. We’re going for comfort over looks here, so we had to move on.

We ran to Costco and we found the perfect set. Made by Agio, we got four chairs and a propane firepit and it seemed like a great price compared to similar sets we saw elsewhere {I can’t find the item on Costco’s website at this time and our store only had three left}. My mom and I assembled the chairs while the guys worked on the surface bolt and then they came out and wrapped up the propane portion.

If you follow me on Instagram, you have seen some of these photos from my phone. But they are the only ones I have so far. I’m still searching for the perfect lighting, which apparently I made up in my head, because I can’t find anything anywhere that has the look I want.

I love that the top of this firepit converts to a lazy susan, making it much more usable when meals are served.

The cushions are made of Sunbrella fabric, which I hear is excellent for outdoor furniture.

The set also came with a ridiculously huge cover that will go over the entire set!

We have a big work party {for my husband} at our house the second week in May, so that was partly the rush to get this area set up. I want to find some lights to string over the area as well, but still have to figure out the best way to run the cords, attach them, etc.

It was a freezing day when we set up the firepit, but curled up with a cup of coffee it was perfect (and for the record – most days my socks clash with my outfit as badly as they did this particular day}. I’m excited for many more days to come in the courtyard! {Hopefully including tonight since we will almost hit 70 today!!}
