Slate Part II

Room Makeovers + Design Plans

I bought another gallon of Restoration Hardware’s Slate paint yesterday (first used here). Looking back at my PhotoShop mock-ups of the new dining room, I actually really like how the room looked with the current paint removed (third photo below), leaving a dark charcoal wall color vs. the light version I tried to ‘re-paint’ it. The first photo is how the room currently looks, the second is ‘painted’ with Behr’s Castle Path {currently in our master bedroom and likely the color we will use throughout the rest of the new house} and the last is the ‘paintless’ version which is a lot like the Restoration Hardware Slate color.

Prior to purchasing the paint, I mentioned my thoughts to the husband.  He said he actually loves our laundry room more than any other room in the house {????} and that it was a great idea. So, I pulled the trigger.  I think the room will still be very bright given the open access to the kitchen, the four windows and the sliding glass doors and transom.  The curtains arrived this week, as well, and they look great.  Excited to finish up this room over the next month!

I also went to our new HomeGoods today {first time even though it opened in October – talk about self-control!!} and found two really cool, huge, heavy wood corbels {with distressed gray paint}. I may hang them in the corners to the entrance of this room.  I really hope they look good there.

Wouldn’t you know it though? I ordered the paint yesterday and today there is a private sale offering 20% off full-priced items? Maybe I just need to order more paint there now 😉
