Simple Fall Decor Updates

Decorating Ideas, Tips and Trends

This post is in partnership with World Market and contains affiliate links. As always, all thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

You all know I’m summer’s biggest fan. So it can be a bit tough for me to transition into fall. But today, I’m going to share some simple fall decor updates that make that transition just a bit easier!

In the early days of fall, I actually leave out some of my key summer pieces. I think it helps to make the transition seem a bit less harsh (especially if it still feels like summer outside). With those key pieces, I then love to add in texture to bring warmth to the space. It seems as though each fall I’m drawn to velvets, faux furs, woven baskets, and chunky throws. Everything cozy and homey!

As you likely know, I’ve been a long time fan of World Market’s home decor and pillows. So, last weekend, I headed there to check out their latest selection for fall since I have some home tours quickly approaching. I actually geeked out a bit when I walked in the door and immediately saw these olive sprays for only $5.99 each! I literally bought every single one they had left, and also bought the topiary version and wreath version. I’ll be sharing more on those in my fall home tour in the coming weeks! But, I scooped them up knowing they would likely sell out quickly. Especially given the much higher prices I’ve seen on similar items at other stores.

World Market’s current pillow selection is so beautiful. They have a wide variety of velvet pillows, including some beautiful pattern options! I opted for the rich navy blue color (so beautiful in person) and the copper. Given my love for blues and greens, fall is always a tough decor season for me. I know blues can pair well with oranges, but it’s just not for me. So, this beautiful copper velvet pillow was a great alternative to traditional orange for me!

World Market also has a great selection of faux furs and hides this year! I grabbed two of their faux mink pillows and one of the throws. It’s hilarious because our cats are obsessed with faux fur come fall and winter. They actually fight over who gets to sleep on them, so I figured these new additions would help restore peace in our home 😉

Here are some of my favorite finds in action in our home! Admittedly, my large water print throw pillows I used for summer look a bit busy with the new Lindsay Letters artwork (Blue Pumpkins and Thankful canvases), but I thought it paired well with the velvet throw pillows until I find a new pattern.

The olive topiaries are perfect flanking our television. I typically have such a hard time decorating around the TV but these were the perfect solution!

The white ceramic planter with leather band was another World Market find. It was on the clearance racks though, so I’m not able to link to it online. The olive stems are seriously my new favorites!

This hyacinth basket (I got the medium size) is such a great price and is almost a dead ringer for one I have that costs three times as much. I love using baskets to store extra throws and pillows in during the colder months. They are also a great way to add texture and visual interest.

The velvet pillows actually include inserts! At $9.99 for the square pillows, they’d be a killer deal even if they were just covers! I opted to use my down throw pillows in the navy version, rathern than the included inserts. It is seriously the prettiest and richest tone of blue and is a bit darker in person when the sun isn’t pouring in. The copper color is the perfect accent and looks so pretty for fall. I love how it pulls the colors from the leather planter and the olives from the stems!

I love the Thankful canvas print – is this the navy color? I am planning to order one and am curious which blue you chose? Thanks!
