For the past few years, I have really wanted to learn Spanish again. With a European trip based out of Barcelona very likely in our future, I am even more motivated to learn. I even had great intentions and bought some cheap software off Ebay in the past and ended up selling it at our last garage sale, un-used, un-opened {shows you how disciplined I am}.

Do any of you have any tips for re-learning a language? I have heard Rosetta Stone is the best route, but is insanely expensive. We are talking the equivalent of a college course tuition {which, if it works, I guess is not all that different than taking a course in college}. They do offer a six-month satisfaction guarantee with the purchase. The idea is to get you thinking in Spanish, not just speaking it, which is a concept I like.

Have you heard of any other successful alternatives? I would really like to avoid a classroom setting and prefer to learn at my own pace. Do you think the MTC would take a Lutheran girl from Nebraska as a trainee for a few months? 🙂 {this is the Mormon Missionary Training Center for all you non-Utahns and I’m sure the answer is an emphatic ‘no’}.
I feel like I could be fairly fluent within a few months if I set up structured studying {I had four years of classes in high school so words are still familiar to me}. The question is, will I actually commit to purchasing and studying? Hopefully, the sapphire blue waters of the Mediterranean will entice and motivate me.
