Powder Bath Refresh Plans

Room Makeovers + Design Plans

Happy Valentine’s Day! In addition to painting the master bath and working on the laundry room stars, I played around in Photoshop {clearly at a very elementary level} to try some lights and mirrors in our powder bath. I think the master bath inspired me.

Here’s the space currently if you’re looking for a reminder. The existing lights have orangish/brownish glass shades {which I can’t capture with the lights on} but the whole room is cast with too warm of a glow. And this is even after the walls have been painted with Behr Castle Path. I think a new light fixture will help enormously!

I found this mirror, Emma Mirror from One Kings Lane, over the weekend and thought it would be a fun one to “try” out in this space. I have sampled it below with a variety of lights.

{Quinton 4-Light Polished Chrome Bath Fixture from Overstock}
{Olivia 3-Light Vanity from Ballard Designs – currently 20% off!}
{Capital Lighting 3-Light Vanity from Capital Lighting}
{Capital Lighting 4-Light Vanity from Capital Lighting}

I like the look of the Kichler Mirror from Wayfair, but would need to find something comparable at a lower price.  This one is shown with the same Captial Lighting lights as the image above.

After all this work, imagine my surprise when I showed the images to my husband and he informed me he hates round mirrors. What?!? Since when did you have an opinion on mirror shapes? Seriously. I’ve looked around for some rectangular mirrors that fit the space, but I think a round shape makes the area look less builder-designed if you know what I mean. The only thing stopping me from buying the hammered round mirror is that I think it is a bit small – especially if I buy lights that point up rather than down. For reference, the existing mirror is 30″ x 40″ and the round mirror is 30″ x 30″. The quatrefoil mirror from Wayfair is 36″ x 36″ which would be perfect.

So, which mirror and light combo is your favorite? I might go back to the drawing board after the “I hate round mirrors” comment but thought I would share the looks I came up with so far.
