Pale Silver vs. Castle Path Paint

I’ve lived with one coat of Restoration Hardware’s Pale Silver paint in our entryway and hallway for the past two months, and now I’m not sure I’m going to finish it.

I LOVE my inspiration photo and PhotoShop mock-up I did here, but the real-life color in our home just isn’t working for me {and perhaps it’s because I only have one coat on and it desperately needs a second for coverage purposes}. Honestly most of my anxiety over it is because of the trim being so-not-white and I’m not sure I’m prepared to redo all the trim on my own. The Pale Silver color just seems to exaggerate the fact the trimwork all needs to be redone.

So, I’m at a crossroads. Do I finish it out in Pale Silver with two coats and then do more trim for the look I really love? Or should I take the safe route with Behr’s Castle Path {which we have in our living room and kitchen currently and in our old master bedroom}. This is the last photo I have of the space. And here you can see how much better the paint looks where I started to paint the trim in Swiss Coffee.

I’m just at a point where I have to make a decision and go with it. The painter’s tape and missing outlet covers, etc. are really starting to drive me nuts. I’d love to hear your thoughts on which route I should go.

My vote would be to paint the walls to match your kitchen/lvg room. I think that color looks lovely! You know how to paint walls and you are good at it. Painting all that trim might put you over the top w/frustration…especially the railings on the stairs and then where do you stop? Painting trim in a contained room like your extra bedroom seems so much more manageable and it looks great 🙂
Hope you’re doing well! I get tired reading your blog and thinking about all your projects!
Hope to see you sometime soon!
    Love you guys!

I love the pale silver! I think it looks great in the entryway. I’m so glad I found your blog (through Emily Clark) because my living room/dining room/kitchen are all in a beige fleshy tone, like yours was previously, and i’ve been considering going gray. After seeing the before and after of your living room, I think it’s helped me to make up my mind. Have a great weekend.
