Decorating With: Palm Fronds

Decorating Ideas, Tips and Trends

I will show you how decorating with palm fronds can create a beautiful space!

I have a new series I am starting that will pop up occasionally called “Decorating With”. The plan will be to feature an accessory or some item in decor that I am loving and feature inspiration photos of ways to use it, where to find the item and how to pull the look together. Today, I’m doing a feature on decorating with delicate palm fronds.

Sunday was Palm Sunday and I shared this shot from our guest bedroom on my Instagram. We purchased this small palm plant for our dining room but it quickly became cat food. It has been hanging out hiding in the guest bedroom ever since.

Palm fronds in the bedroom in front of the window.

Call it the approach of warmer weather, but lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about using palms in home decor {which is why I bought the one for the dining room – purchased at Lowe’s for only $14.99}. However, with the cats {or likely for any of you with pets in the home} the real version apparently may not be the way to go. I am not much of a faux fan for an plants, but in this situation, I’m convinced I need to find something that works.

Decorating with Palm Fronds: Inspiration

Check out these gorgeous inspiration photos showing just how beautiful and visually appealing palm fronds can be in any room!

Subtle usage in the images above, but the palm fronds definitely make a statement in these rooms! When used in a room that isn’t overly coastal, I think the fronds add the perfect punch of green and life to a room without making it feel too theme-y.

Where to buy faux palm fronds

After a month of searching, here are some palm fronds I am looking into possibly purchasing. Click the link under each image for details on the product and where to buy.

Some of these only come in bulk, but at least that way you can have one or two in each room in your home. 😉

Anyone have an great sources for faux plants? By May, I hope to have splashes of these babies in as many rooms as possible for the summer months! So, will you be decorating with palm fronds any time soon?

These bring such a whimsical touch to a room. They make me think of Lilly Pulitzer and Miami and warm summer days. 😀 I love the huge one in India Hick’s home!

How funny! On Sunday, when I left church, I was thinking of buying ferns for our home. I guess great minds think alike! Happy Easter!

Before you buy the tree version, I recommend purchasing the leaves (presumably cheaper) only and see how your cats do, even with the faux version. We had a large faux palm tree in the living room and our cat chewed the leaves so badly 🙁

All cats are different of course so hopefully yours won’t bother your new plants.

Funny that I’ve been recently drawn to palm fronds as well. Last weekend I bought a stem of them from Michaels and put in a pretty glass container for my mudroom. It looks great, very authentic, and adds the perfect amount of green to the space.

I love how simple each of these ideas are, but also what an impact the palm fronds make when added to each room.

Love how simple these are but they give such amazing impact. I especially love that you sourced fake ones cause I kill pretty much every plant that enters my home.

We have a huge fan palm in our back yard and they grow wild in the woods behind our house…let me know if you’d like me to snag a few for you–LOL!
