Is it obvious to you all yet that I am incapable of just sitting back and wasting time on a weekend?!?  I am already planning our work for next weekend.  I have a four day weekend and plan to finish painting the staircase.  The husband has a three day weekend so we would like to tackle a project we have talked about for quite some time:  Adding beadboard to our island.

I had wanted this since day one and I don’t think the husband realized the potential until he saw my friend’s island last time we were in Denver.  And since she hasn’t bragged about it yet, I am going to for her!  Her whole house is gorgeous and I love her kitchen.  Check out her handiwork on her island (it was previously the same dark walnut colored wood as the rest of her kitchen cabinets).
There are two dilemmas I am currently faced with.
1}  Should the beadboard be white or black?  I think I prefer black right now with our current decor, but if I think long-term I would definitely want white {with glazing like the above photos to tie in to the current cabinets}.  Especially if my dream ever comes true about the white kitchen and hardwood floors.  The white would also work best with our dining room table {it is white with a glaze on it}.
2} Do we paint the cabinets of the island the same color as the beadboard?  My vote is 100% yes but the husband is a little hesitant.
Here are some inspiration photos so you can help me decide!

Another thing we need suggestions and input on:  how do you finish of the corners?  We aren’t really sure how these all look so nice and how the beadboard is cut so perfectly.  Any feedback is appreciated!
