bonus room project

Here is a mock up of the bonus room project that we are hoping to start, soon!

Rather than finish all the projects we have started and left unfinished, I thought it was time we came up with a new winter/fall project.  Thought of here, we have opted to proceed with building stunning built-ins in the bonus room.  I sold the husband’s old big screen on Craig’s List this spring so we only have the one TV downstairs and one in his office.  I don’t mind since I don’t watch TV but there have been a lot of movies I have wanted to rent lately with no place to watch them!

You have to squint to actually make this trainwreck of a PhotoShop job look real.  So let’s just play pretend.  Here is the bonus room space currently.  Notice all the mess?  We have no storage so everything is just stacked along the wall without rhyme or reason.

A small room with a sloped ceiling and musical items in the room.

Here is a mock-up of how we want the space to look.  Let’s pretend I actually put all the hardware on and that there is crown molding on the top and that the rest of the junk is in the cabinets.

A photo shopped rendering of the built in cabinets in the bonus room.

The husband actually laughed when he saw this and asked if I had really spent the last hour putting this mock up together.  Yes.  Yes I did.  The cabinets will extend all the way to the wall, but I couldn’t find an image of the type we will be using there.  And I love the locker/pantry cabinet on the right.  It will store all of our guitars for Guitar Hero and the husband’s electric and acoustic guitars – they drive me nuts sitting out right now.  I am actually excited now to begin this project!
