If you are a fish lover then you must try this amazing fish marinade!

Best recipes for halibut and salmon on the grill poster.
This recipe is for an amazing halibut marinade created by my sister-in-law’s brother-in-law {make sense}?  Not only is it amazing to eat, as you chop the fresh basil and garlic, it is amazing to prepare.  It ALMOST makes me want to cook more!  Here are the details. {Recipe is for one to two medium-sized filets – we made two so we did 1.5x everything to be safe}:

To-Die For Grilled Halibut

Print Recipe
Prep Time:5 minutes mins
Cook Time:10 minutes mins
Total Time:15 minutes mins

Ingredients

  • 2 halibut filets
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 6 TBSP olive oil
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 TBSP lemon juice
  • 1 TBSP chopped parsley

Instructions

  • Mix ingredients and pour over fish in a small baking dish and marinate for 2 hours.
  • Place filets on oiled foil {we like to use disposable tin pans from the grocery store}.
  • Grill over high heat for 5 minutes per side or until flaky.
  • ENJOY!

While marinating:
Fish in a pan with the green and garlic marinade on top.
We cooked our fish filets on the grill in a disposable aluminum pan, as halibut is very flaky and tends to fall apart {you won’t want to put it on the grill directly}.
Fish cooking in an aluminum pan in oven.
If you are interested in the equally-as-good salmon marinade we had over the 4th, the details are as follows:
Coat salmon with salt, pepper and garlic powder (like a light dry rub)Marinade:
1/3 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup water
1 tbsp olive oil
mix, pour over fish and marinade approx 2 hours.
oil grill rack
cook over medium heat 6-8 minutes per side
We placed our salmon directly on the grill {it still had the skin attached on one side so it did not come apart at all}.  We used both King Salmon and Sockeye salmon – it seemed we all preferred the Sockeye, but it was all so good!
Today, we ate the halibut with a Caprese Salad {one of my faves} prepared with the balsamic we got while in Italy at Tenuto Torciano  – we also splurged since it was our anniversary weekend and opened one of the Italian bottles of  red wine from the same locale.  Everything was to.die.for!  Thanks again to Chris for finding such amazing marinade recipes we could all enjoy!  I anticipate us using this halibut recipe time and time again.  The smell of the fresh basil and garlic on my hands {from when I chopped it} is so amazing!  I almost want to grow my own herb garden! 🙂
