Here is how to make a fall crate planter for less.
I have been loving some of the fall planters I’ve seen while perusing local nurseries the past few weeks. But they are very pricey and I knew I could recreate some of them for a fraction of the price.
I found this unfinished wood crate at Michaels for $6.99 and would have used my 40% off coupon, making it even cheaper, but I had another item I wanted to use it on in the same transaction.
I gave the crate a light sanding to remove any potential ‘splinter’ wood and then painted the crate with two coats of Country Chic Paint in Sangria. The paint is chalk-based so it left a nice matte finish. Since I was going for a more rustic, fall look, I didn’t wax the piece, but rather, left it as it was. The end result is a gorgeous complement to the plants I used {Ornamental Pepper ‘Masquerade’ and Flowering Cabbage ‘Osaka Red’}.
Aren’t these purple peppers the most perfect fall plant? I also can’t get enough of the cabbage or kale in fall planters {which I used in last year’s outdoor fall planters}.
Thank you to Country Chic Paint for supplying me with the paint for this DIY project!
