Eleven Years and Our Love of Wine

Entertaining and Party Ideas

It’s my 11 year wedding anniversary and through it all we still share a love of wine!

On Friday we celebrated our 11 year wedding anniversary. It’s been an amazing journey these past 11 years, and its one I wouldn’t have wanted to take with anyone else.

A husband and wife just married holding pink flowers and bubbles all around the happy couple.

Friday night we headed out to dinner to celebrate our union. It really is hard to believe we’ve been married so long! Although, looking back through all the photos below, we can tell we’ve clearly aged 😉

On Saturday, this is how we celebrated. We paired the Wente Riva Ranch Chardonnay with some Italian meats and an assortment of delicious cheese. It’s seriously one of our favorite meals. For whatever reason, when we sit down and enjoy wine, we tend to reminiscence and/or dream about past/future travels and dreams. One of the things I love most about wine, is that I feel it tends to make us slow down, drop our typically rushed pace, and encourages great conversation. For some reason, meals just feel more special.

Did you know Wente Vineyards brand is one that dates back more than 130 years and five generations as the country’s oldest continuously operated family-owned winery. You can read more about their incredible history here. We absolutely love their sophisticated Chardonnay and buying a bottle was the perfect way to celebrate.

In honor of our anniversary, I thought it would be fun to take a journey through our marriage and many of the times we’ve celebrated (likely with wine). You can quickly see why wine reminds us of so many great adventures throughout our marriage!

For Kurtis’ 30th birthday (nearly a decade ago), I surprised him with a trip to Napa and we ended the vacation with a night in San Francisco.

Here we are in Denver in November 2009, celebrating Thanksgiving and my mom’s and sister-in-law’s birthdays. And yes, even though I was an adult, I used to wear giant flowers/headbands in my hair at times. You win some, you lose some.

For our fifth wedding anniversary in 2010, we went on a Mediterranean cruise. Kurtis didn’t make the cut in this photo. I was being wooed by my Italian boyfriend and winemaker, Luigi 😉

In early 2011, we took a Caribbean cruise and I found the wine glass of my dreams 😉

In 2011, we went to Salt Lake City to visit my family for my birthday. We went to an incredible wine tasting at Fleming’s Steakhouse, which is always a great way to get to try new wines!

Last summer, we took a food and wine tour through Tuscany and it was such a magical experience. We honestly never wanted to leave. I promise I’ll have that Travel Files post up soon!

At dinner on Friday night, we tried to dream big and talk about where our future journeys would take us. Kurtis turns 40 next year, so according to him, it will be somewhere epic!

I hope you enjoyed this brief little journey through the past eleven years! Anyone else a fan of meat, and cheese and wine for dinner?

Thank you to Wente Vineyards for sponsoring today’s post. You can also learn more about this great brand by visiting their Facebook or Twitter pages!

Perfect “dinner.” We will try the Wente Wine— there is much good California wine. When we were in Paris we developed the habit of wine, cheese, and good bread as a meal—love it. Yes, wine makes for good conversation and relaxation. Thank you for sharing your wonderful photos.

I completely agree with you. Wine with some good salami, cheese and olives is one of my favorite meals. I’ll have to try the Wente wine.
