Master Bathroom Rustic Wood Shelf

I installed a rustic wood mantel shelf in the bathroom and couldn’t be happier with the result!

We are back from London, and although we were only there three full days, we had an amazing time!

A few weeks back, I gave a sneak peak of our updated master bathroom space. And although the room still isn’t finished, prior to our departure to London, we installed this Rustic Wood Shelf that I had picked up from Pottery Barn. We went with the 3′ length which was perfect for the little alcove above our tub in our master bathroom. The finish I selected was the deep Mahogany to tie in the cabinets already in the space. I had been wanting to add some fresh personality to this area of our bathroom, and this was the perfect way to do so. I loved the deeper profile, and although it sticks out from the wall a decent amount, it allows me to add more than just picture frames to the ledge.

Although I haven’t really had time to decide how to properly style this bathroom space, I threw together three quick looks with some items I had on hand.

Here was the space before:

It’s the area ‘behind the curtain’ in this before / before picture – back when the walls were flat and fleshy.

The fresh greenery really adds to the organic feel in the bathroom!

My husband’s only request on the ledge was to have a clock {so he could see the time when he is in the shower}. I picked up a Nicole Miller Home clock from Marshall’s that I thought would fit the bill. The larger print is a map of Omaha from Jenna Sue Designs. The mirrored frame in two of the shots is the Champagne Gilt Mirror Mat Frame from Pottery Barn {the 8×10 was on crazy clearance at my store when I bought the shelf}. Slowly but surely I’m getting a little bit closer to finally finishing this space…that I started in February. Which of the design looks so far is your favorite? I’m sure I’ll continue to play around with the items on the ledge, but I love that it can hold so many varied looks! I originally pictured an organic print of some sort in the smaller frame {much like I did in our powder bath}, and that may still happen. I can envision printing out a new freebie printable with each season to swap out in the smaller frame. So many options!
