Home Tour

Not only did we tour the outside of the house on Saturday, we showed up to the house showing about 20 minutes early on Sunday for our official appointment.  Along with a handful of other realtors and people interested in buying.  I was in a panic.  How could someone else be looking at MY house?!? I had spent all day Saturday pinning ideas on how I could make this home amazing.  The tour was going okay – the layout was clunky but nothing that knocking a few walls down couldn’t solve.  Then we got to the basement.  There was a house flipper there and we heard him whispering to his realtor.  And then we saw mold – everywhere.  You know its bad when my husband takes more photos at a home tour than I do.

Bottom line, we talked to the flipper {who used to be an inspector} and he laid it out for us.  He wasn’t too concerned about the mold – the bottom four feet of drywall would need to go.  He could also tell that it was caused by the leaking {rotted} windows which we had already figured would all need to be replaced.  The rain gutters were also too small and all were clogged causing water to pool around the foundation.  It needs a new roof, rain gutters, etc. which I think we were willing to deal with.  But the mold was like that Austin Powers movie where all he can think about is the mole on The Wonder Years’ kids face.  Mole-d.  Mole-d.  I think I would forever be worried about mold.  It started to freak us out.  So, at this point, we aren’t going to make an offer.  It’s just so sad that what was once a beautiful home has fallen into such disrepair!

But don’t worry – I have  feeling we will have more home tours to show you shortly.  We viewed two tonight at our realtor’s recommendation and I.FELL.IN.LOVE with one of them.
