We finally finished staining the deck this weekend. Yesterday we had to wait until 8:20 to start once it got light out and it was a balmy 49 degrees. We used three gallons {for only one coat} of Cabot’s Semi-Solid Stain in Cordovan Brown. I love the dark, rich color of this stain but wanted to ensure we could still see the wood grain through the color so that it would have that weathered wood look. It turned out great! It took much longer than anticipated thanks to the pergola and all the railing slats. I think it is safe to say that we are both VERY glad this is the type of project you only have to do every few years!
Here is the raw wood before that was in desperate need of some protection:
The finished product! I love how dark it is. Its like built-in sunglasses!
