Prepare yourselves for a never before seen space in our house. Unless of course you have seen it in person – then you know how underwhelming it is. For those that haven’t seen it before, don’t let the title fool you: this is certainly not a bathroom for royalty.
Rather, it is the Jack & Jill guest bathroom that connects our king guest bedroom to my craft room. And the king guest bedroom simply got it’s name because of the mattress size – which in actuality is a California King, but California king guest bedroom sounds even more ridiculous than king guest bedroom. But I digress. The king guest bedroom connects to the left of the first photo below with a pocket door. The craft room connects on the right with a regular door. The bath/shower/toilet are exactly opposite the mirror/counter/sink via another door.
Since painting the stripes {which are nearly complete} in the king guest bedroom, I feel like this bathroom needs help next. It is the one used by guests {since the bed in the adjoining guest room is bigger than the queen guest bedroom}. I worry the shower curtain may look a little too matchy-matchy but I’m not really eager to buy a new one. The main changes we need in this room are:
- Paint {the old flesh-toned paint is clashing badly with the gray and white stripes}
- Replace the countertops down the road {the Corian is faded and/or bleached in several spots}
- Get new cabinets eventually {these were made for very short people – obviously children – but are extremely annoying if you are an adult – as in, they hit me mid-thigh – tops}
- Replace the carpet and tile with one consistent flooring {you’ll see why below}
- Add a mirror trim to the mirror or replace the mirror entirely with double framed mirrors
- Add a double sink and new faucets and hardware on the doors
- Replace the lighting
- Far, far down the road, we would like to replace the tub/shower lining with a tub and tile combo – like white subways on the walls, etc.
Here is the flooring in the two areas – tile in the bathtub/shower/toilet space. Carpet that somehow got stretched out during the move in the sink area. We would love to install a tile that flows from one space to the other.
We feel like this may be a great place to try our very first DIY with tile on our own {read here how my dad helped us with white Moroccan tile backsplash in the kitchen in our last home}. I would love for it to someday look like a combination of these {okay, really any would do 😉 }

What is your favorite bathroom look? Are you more daring with your decorating styles in the guest bathroom that your main or master bathroom? Any fun inspiration pictures I’m missing out on?

Hi! I love the photo you provided above with the light green subway and fish scale shaped tiles behind the vanity. Do you have any information on the source of these files? Love them! Thanks
