Today I’ve teamed up with the lovely Marty at A Stroll Thru Life and an amazing line-up of bloggers to share my full Preppy Plaid Christmas Home Tour! You’ll also be able to link up with us on Friday to share YOUR holiday spaces! Also, don’t forget to enter the two giveaways I have at the end of this post!
If you’re stopping in from Far Above Rubies, welcome! I’m a little obsessed with the bold pinks Anita used in her Christmas decor and I’m already scheming of ways I can use some next year! Oh, and she’s on the cover of January’s Romantic Homes Magazine, so she’s also a big deal!
I’ve already shared two Christmas Home Tours this year, but today I’m going to share the tour in it’s entirety. This also means I’m sharing three new spaces that have yet to be shown in the other tours! But first, if you would like to check out the other tours, you can go here and here. Otherwise, some of the images will be repeated here so you won’t miss much.
Welcome to our home! My husband and I have lived here for almost three years and we’ve had a lot of fun making it our own – which means a lot of painting, new light fixtures and miscellaneous DIY projects. But we’re getting there! For this year’s decor, I describe my style simply as plaid. I know that’s not a style but I have various plaid patterns in nearly ever room in our home for the holidays, so we’re going with it!
Stepping inside, you’ll see our home as a bit of an unusual layout. I’m thinking of doing a video tour soon (hopefully) so you can get a better feel for the flow. When you walk in, the staircase to the upstairs and downstairs are to the left and my office is to the right.
ENTRYWAY SOURCES: ‘It Is Well’ Canvas | Buffalo Check Poufs | Buffalo Check Scarf on Chair |Chair |Boots | Boot Socks | Boot Tray | Rug (I use reverse side) | Chandelier | White and Gold Deer Head (similar)
Off the entryway is my office, in which, for the first time since we’ve lived here, I went with traditional Christmas colors.
OFFICE SOURCES: Chairs |Boots | Boot Socks | Drapes Fabric | DIY Wood Bead Chandelier | DIY Wreath | Plaid Pillow made from tablecloth | Basket, Glass Vases, ‘Jingle All The Way’ Frame, Table: HomeGoods
Heading back down our hallway, you can see I added some more plaid and pre-lit wreaths. This otherwise neutral space needs the pop of colors when the colors outside have faded away.
Also for the first time since we’ve lived here, we added a Christmas tree to our living room. I can’t tell you just how happy it makes me to have all those extra sparkling lights at nighttime! I continued the plaid theme in here as well, but opted to go with a rich navy blue and hunter green tones. I’ll be sharing even more details and photos of our living room tomorrow, so stay tuned!
LIVING ROOM SOURCES: ‘O Holy Night’ Canvas | Navy Blue Ornaments | Wood Star Tree Topper | Icicle Ornaments | Wreaths | ‘All Is Calm’ Tree Skirt | Velvet Pillow Covers | Navy & Indigo Riad Pillow Cover (made by me, but same pillow here)
In the dining room, I used the rest of my fresh cedar garland to create a tablescape. From there I filled the space with my collection of glass bottles and candles. They all sit upon some leftover striped fabric I had on hand. The blues and greens all work well with the adjoining living room space. I also hung my DIY Christmas Card Holder on the wall – although it is currently rather sparse this early in the season 😉
DINING ROOM SOURCES: Chandelier | DIY Christmas Card Holder | ‘Joy’ Napkins | Glass Bottles collected through the years from various stores (similar) | Bar Cart (similar) | ‘O Little Town of Bethlehem’ Print | Velvet Pillow Cover | Plaid Blanket
In the kitchen I do minimal decorating. A boxwood wreath over our range, some festive tea towels, and I call it a day!
In our unfinished mudroom (I still only have primer up on all the woodwork), I still like to add little decor details since this is the entry my husband and I always see when coming in from the garage. I simply added some green-toned pillows I had made in the past for other spaces, threw in a little navy, a boxwood wreath and some of my favorite Lindsay Letters prints and considered it done! It definitely feels much more beautiful to come home to than if I leave it in it’s true, unfinished state!
MUDROOM SOURCES: Antique Copper Chandelier | ‘O Holy Night’ Print | ‘Auld Lang Syne’ Print | Boxwood Wreath | Navy Velvet Pillow Cover | Striped Pillow (same fabric) | Green Trellis Pillow (same fabric) | Plaid Barbour Boots
Let’s head upstairs and check out some of the bedroom spaces!
The first room in our home to get the royal Christmas treatment was our guest bedroom. I decked it out in reds and plaids – the same ones I used in our living room last year. I absolutely love how festive this space feels now!
In our master bedroom, I make very few changes seasonally, but I love to hang a boxwood wreath above our bed to add a bit of festivity!
That concludes today’s tour! Thank you for stopping by! Check back in tomorrow, when I’ll be sharing even more details and updates in our living room! If you’re new around here, be sure to also check out My Favorite Things giveaway as well as the Instant Print Digital Camera gift basket giveaway, both of which are currently still running!
I’m the last stop on today’s tour, so get caught up on all the other stops that have posted this week and check back in throughout the week for the remainder of the tours! And don’t forget to join us Friday for the link party!
